Why do we watch anime?
Most of us would probably say we watch for the interesting stories, beautiful art, catchy music, interesting and familiar characters, life lessons, and many other things.
The thing is, all of these reasons come down to one thing in the end. No matter what anime is about, it makes us feel something.
And we do feel, especially when we see figures who are so sweet and cute that it might make us feel too much.
This list has some of the cutest anime girls, who might just make our hearts pop with their cuteness.
Now, Let’s begin the list of best Kawaii Anime Girls of all time in no particular order these are just randomly listed.
35. Milim Nava From Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken
For someone whose name is “The Destroyer,” she looks and acts like she is anything but that.
Most of the time, Milim acts like a child when she talks to the world and the other people in it.
Most of the time, she chooses to be as carefree as possible instead of doing things that are common of demon lords.
You realize. All that stuff about death and destruction.
She seems innocent and cute, but she has a more adult and brutally aggressive side that comes out every once in a while, especially when she’s mad.
34. Sawako Kuronuma From Kimi No Todoke
If Sadako looks and acts a lot like Sawako from The Ring, I don’t mind if she drags me to that well of hers.
Sawako is quiet and shy, but she cares more than words can say. She is one of many shy anime characters who just want to be more open and friendly.
But what makes her stand out is how likeable she can be if she tries.
Shota and her friends helped her come out of her shell little by little, and as the series went on, she showed us more of her cute sides.
33. Tanya von Degurechaff From Youjo Senki
Did I put her on this list more as an April Fool’s joke that came a little late?
Probably.
But unlike a certain games company, I won’t be arrogant and condescending while I explain myself, because I don’t have to.
I mean, really. Just picture her face without that crazy-ass look she usually has and with a normal smile instead. Even a small smile would be enough.
Now, I want you to keep that picture in mind.
With her small size and how great her character design is as a whole, don’t you think she has a very high chance of reaching dangerously high levels of kawaii?
As if she wasn’t already dangerous enough as she is.
32. Nico Yazawa From Love Live! School Idol Project
I’m sure that some of you have already heard that famous meme phrase that I said.
And I know that your response could have been anything from pure love to pure irritation, since you’ve probably heard those words a million times.
Despite that, I still put the girl on this list.
Even though she’s a cute hero, she’s also a very good cook, which is one of the things to look out for when looking for the cutest waifus.
Don’t you think so?
She says you should probably say yes, or your Niko Niko Kneecaps might get hurt.
31. Yassan From The Daily Lives of High School Boys
This shy literature student has only one goal in life: to meet a boy on a riverbank who is exactly like the main character in the book she’s writing.
She’ll do anything to keep the mood from getting ruined when it does.
I know it’s not that easy of a goal.
But when she finally got what she wanted, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at how funny it was.
She isn’t even that shy, since she only seems to act strange around Hidenori, who she has a strange but cute crush on.
After all, who else would chase you for 5k just to tell you that the guy you saw her with is a classmate?
30. Mashiro Shiina From Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo
Who wouldn’t find a waifu who is an oddball and a world-class artist cute as hell?
Mashiro is usually quiet, but when it comes to how she feels, she can sometimes surprise me with how direct and honest she can be.
Even so, we can’t help but find her “strangeness” and the way she presents herself charming.
In the later episodes of the show, her love for Sorata and their connection grew stronger. This is something I will remember with a smile on my face for a very long time.
29. Kaguya Shinomiya From Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai
Imagine being such a hard-core tsundere that you think telling the boy you like first is the worst thing that could happen.
Miyuki isn’t much better, though.
But Kaguya’s general approach to love and how she acts around the president, especially when she’s caught off guard, is just too damn cute.
Even better, she has a final form that Miyuki’s strong mental barriers couldn’t fully stop.
It’s the famous “Feverish Kaguya,” of course.
Obviously, she would have already won the “war” several episodes ago if she had kept even half of the courage she showed in that scene.
28. Shiro From No Game no Life
Shiro is without a question the smartest girl on this list. She is also a strong contender for the title of “The Most Cute Imouto in All of Anime.”
She and Sora are a power couple on earth when it comes to games, and as soon as they got isekai’d into Disboard, they ruled.
Shiro talks a lot less than her brother because she is the more strange and quiet of the two. As I said, there are a lot of them in here.
Even so, it’s pretty clear from how she acts around Sora and even when she’s not with him that she deserves to be on this list.
Overall, I give her 10 out of 10 pats on the back.
27. Miyuki Takara From Lucky☆Star
Here’s Meganekko, your nice neighbor who will help you with your homework while killing you with her kindness and moe.
Miyuki is the most quiet and nice person in her group. She is friendly and always willing to help her classmates, especially her friends.
And because she was afraid of contact lenses, her place on the list went up right away. She is, after all, a famous and (more importantly) cute figure with glasses.
Even for anime, which is already cutesy.
26. Nagatoro Hayase From Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san
Nagatoro, who is tanned and a little bit cruel, comes from one of the most current titles on this list. She bullies her way into the competition.
Well, if you’ve seen the show, you’d know that she isn’t really bullying anyone.
It’s more like joking around.
And, at the very least, sweet.
The best part is, of course, when her tricks backfire on her, which happens more than a few times, which is good news for both the watchers and Paisen.
Also, it’s fun to see her cat-eyed yandere side come out when she sees her bullying victim (who is also her clear crush) being teased by other girls or spending time with them.
25. Yoshi From Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san
Meeting up with a different character from the same show.
Some of you might be asking, “Why did they put Yoshi ahead of the show’s main female character?”
I’d tell them, “Ya just don’t get it.”
At first view, Yoshi might look like he only has one trait, and I won’t blame you if you think that.
But you have to know that I take into account a lot of details when I rank the cutest kawaii figures.
Yoshi fits the standards more than any other character on this list, which is probably not what you would expect.
She is a bundle of cutesy airheadedness right now, and I’m willing to bet that once Season 2 comes out, most fans will find her kawaii status to be much higher.
Hopes are high.
24. Megumin From Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!
Megumin comes from the funny and often illogical world of KonoSuba.
Even though she is a real magical girl, she loves explosions and being chuunibyou, which never stops surprising us.
She is just as weird as the other people in Kazuma’s group, but I would say that she is the most observant and realistic of them all.
This doesn’t change how cute she is, especially when Kazuma’s tricks get through to her.
She is also not afraid to mess with and tease other characters, which I think makes her an even more interesting person.
23. Nezuko From Demon Slayer
Nezuko was born to be on this list, even before she got the bamboo muzzle and was turned into a devil.
She is not only Tanjiro’s cute and loving imouto, but she can also be a force to be reckoned with when she gets angry and defensive.
What more could Tanjiro want as a bigger brother?
(Insert Dom Toretto family joke here)
Sad to say, she finally met her match when she headbutted her brother’s steely face.
Sorry, Nezuko.
22. Raphtalia From Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari
We’ve already talked about a catgirl on this list, and everyone agreed that catgirls are awesome. But what about a half-tanuki waifu?
From her base form as a cute kid to her final form as a loving waifu, Raphtalia is nothing but heartwarmingly tear-jerkingly adorable.
No one would dare say otherwise, I’m sure.
Her character is also a great example of what a loyal and kind-hearted cute waifu should be like.
She was the first person from another world to show Naofumi what real love looks and feels like.
And I say that’s good for them both.
I send them a lot of packages.
21. Hinata Hyuga / Hinata Uzumaki From Naruto & Boruto
How could this list be complete without the original shy, introverted cute ninja waifu?
And, to be honest, you have to give it to her.
Hinata still won and became the best girl in the end, despite how stupid Naruto is and how long he had a crush on Sakura as a child.
Just like I knew she would from the first time I saw her with Naruto.
Back then, the ship was strong!
Even now, in the second part of the story, I still think about how cute she was in the early parts of Naruto.
That’s how much of an impression she made on me when I was a young anime fan watching my first Shounen, and it shows how great Naruto was as an anime.
20. Emilia From Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu
Now, I’m not taking a side in this whole “Rem vs. Emilia as best girl” thing, but there’s a reason why I put Emilia above Rem on this list.
This is because the show is in its second season.
I really think that, in terms of cuteness alone, Rem was better than the first season.
But the way the last few episodes of the show dealt with Emilia and little Emilia was nothing short of amazing.
We got to see more of her good and obviously cute qualities than we did in the last season.
But I do hope that Rem will be in the next season as much as Emilia is, so that everyone is on the same level.
So that this “War of the Waifus” can be settled once and for all.
19. Mirai Kuriyama From Kyoukai no Kanata
Remember when I said that I didn’t like pretty girls who wore glasses?
So, that wasn’t true.
Now, I could probably write you all a 1,000-word article on why Meganekkos are the best anime girls and why I put Mirai at the top of this list instead of the other strong contenders, but that wouldn’t be fun.
At least for you.
I would suggest that you watch her series if you haven’t already.
Even if you still don’t agree with me after you watch it, I won’t feel bad about it.
Though I really think this awkward, charming, and beautiful woman with glasses deserves all the love she gets.
18. Kobato Hasegawa From Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Kodaka mentioned that Kobato looked more like their mother (a fact Tenma Kashiwazaki also noted), having golden-blond hair and blue eyes.
Kobato mainly keeps her hair flowing down but still has two small horse tails from each side. Kobato is usually depicted in her Gothic Lolita dress, thigh-high socks with a black barrette.
She also wears a red-eye contact lens on her right eye to match the anime character she’s usually cos-playing.
17. Kanna Kamui From Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
In her human form, Kanna has white-lavender hair and blue eyes.
According to Riko Saikawa, she is very cute and appealing.
Her style of clothing has been described as “gothic lolita with a tribal theme” (courtesy of Kobayashi).
Her usual attire consists of a white capelet with a fur collar, a pink blouse, a white frilly skirt, and pink doll shoes.
She ties her hair into pigtails, each adorned with three dark blue beads.
16. Nadeshiko Kagamihara From Yuru Camp
Nadeshiko is a pale-skinned teenage girl with upper-back length pink hair that she keeps in twin ponytails on the back of her neck which is held by white ruffled scrunchies and light-blue eyes.
When camping, she is seen wearing a pink plaid jacket, a light pink ruffled dress underneath, black leggings, and green-and-white lace-up boots (or, alternatively, dark brown boots that are rolled down) with grey fingerless gloves and an orange scarf.
15. Yui Hirasawa From K-on!
Yui is a teenager with a slightly below average height of 5’1″, with brown eyes and thick medium brown hair at shoulder length, often accessorized with two yellow pins.
Yui is relatively fashion-conscious and prefers styles featured in teen magazines.
She wears skirts over pants. She also wears casual clothes such as shorts and t-shirts at home.
14. Taiga Aisaka From Toradora!
Even though Taiga is a teenager, her very short height makes her look like a younger child. Ami frequently teases her about this.
Taiga has long, curly light brown hair (inherited from her mother) that falls past her waist in waves, with large, dark amber eyes which are inherited from her father.
She is “flat-chested” and is very ashamed about it, but often she makes up for this fact by her typically constant glare or menacing words.
13. The Platelets From Cells at Work!
Due to the Platelet’s actual cell size, they are depicted as children. She is a small cell with waist-length caramel blonde hair and brown eyes.
She wears the Platelet uniform which contains of a light brown cap, an over sized blue T-Shirt with light brown shorts underneath and black boots with white fur in them.
And is always seen working with her fellow workers. The uniforms are reminiscent of real life Japanese Kindergarten students.
12. Nanachi From Made in Abyss
Nanachi’s appearance is very rabbit-like, save for a long sturdy tail, horizontally slanted pupils, carnivorous teeth and human-like hair; which is straight and white or cream in a short bobbed style, the sides of the bangs going down to the shoulders.
In contrast, medium tan fur covers the rest of Nanachi, with light tan covering the insides of their ears and belly.
They have a blush-like spot on each cheek; which has two thick whiskers protruding sideways.
11. Rem From Re:zero
With tears in my eyes and snot in my nose, I give you the fourth item on our list. I’m still thinking about what she said, and it’s making me cry.
No matter what EmiXSuba fans say about Rem that isn’t nice, I think she deserves a yes from Subaru just as much as Emilia.
It was quite a trip for us and the main character, but as the first season went on, we couldn’t help but like her more and more because of how sweet she became and how much she loved Subaru.
That’s why most of us found that scene to be so sad.
As it should be.
10. O-Tama From One Piece
Tama is a fairly short and thin (given her wanting nutrition) girl whose face, befitting her age, has big, soft features, including black (violet in the anime) eyes.
She has dark-violet hair arranged in a Shimada style, with a yellow comb inserted where the back bun is sectioned off, plus a pale-pink hana kanzashi on each side with a hanging bura.
She wears a light-green girl’s yukata with a plain, yellow flower pattern, several differently colored and patterned patch-works, and a yellow, bow-knotted tsuke obi with long tails in the back as well as a light-pink obiage, and an orange obijime.
9. Levy McGarden From Fairy Tail
Levy is a rather young, petite teenage girl of a slender build who stands at a rather below-average height for her age.
Her shoulder-length blue hair, which has eyebrow-length bangs, is normally tied up with a colorful bandana around her head.
While initially portrayed as having rather straight hair, her hair has slowly gained a more wavy, wild look, with more locks hanging down the sides of her face.
8. Rikka Takanashi From Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai!
On this list, there are a lot of anime girls who are weird.
Rikka is definitely one of these people, you could say.
Before Yuuta could get used to his new school and life as a reformed chuunibyou, Rikka came in, stole his heart and ours, and ran away to her dream world.
And after seeing how the last movie in the series finished, I have to say that they were meant to meet.
We probably won’t ever know why, but we all find it cute when figures are weird and standoffish like her.
7. Kaede Azusagawa From Rascal does not dream of Bunny girl senpai
Kaede has long brown hair and eyes much like her brother and is normally shown wearing a panda hoodie.
The latter is primarily due to her insecurity and paranoia as a result of her Adolescence Syndrome.
Kaede originally had a kind, yet cheeky personality which granted her little difficulty with social interaction. She regains this personality after completing her list of goals.
6. Senko-san From The Helpful Fox Senko-san
Senko is an 800 year old kitsune girl with radiant orange fur with white tail tips and brown fox ear tip.
Senko wears a red and white Miko kimono with a beige apron tied with a red ribbon and traditional Japanese geta.
Although her appearance is very juvenile, her use of glasses and old fashion assures the audience of her real, much older demigod age.
Senko also has different outfits as transitions in episodes. Her eyes are an ombre shade of yellow to brown.
5. Mio Akiyama From K-on!
Mio stands at 5’3″ (160cm), being the tallest in the group and has straight, long, black hair and gray-blue eyes.
As shown in episode 4 of season 1, she is also quite a bit more busty than the others (except Tsumugi Kotobuki), much to the dismay of Yui Hirasawa, Ritsu Tainaka, and later Azusa Nakano as well.
Pants over skirts. In the summertime, Mio likes to wear sleeveless clothes, such as tank tops.
4. Yoshino From Date a Live
Yoshino has the look of a young, cute girl at about 13 to 14 years of age with blue eyes and long curly blue hair.
She wears a short white dress under a large green raincoat that has a tail with a pink ribbon attached to it, with a pair of rabbit-ear hood and holds her rabbit puppet, Yoshinon, in her left hand.
Her preferred form of clothing appears to be sundresses along with boots that match her raincoat. After her Spirit power was sealed, she starts wearing a one-piece dress and a sunhat given to her by Reine.
3. Fuko Ibuki From Clannad
Fuko is a very short girl who has a rather childlike stature as she is one of the shortest characters in Clannad.
She usually wears her Hikarizaka Private High School uniform. She has dark, greenish, gray-brown hair, and droopy golden-yellow eyes.
Fuko’s hair is tied into a very low ponytail, using a large periwinkle ribbon.
2. Shinobu Oshino From Bakemonogatari
Shinobu is a young female with yellow eyes, pointy ears, sharp fangs, and long blond hair which curls outward at the end.
During the course of the series, she takes on several changes in appearance depending on how much of her vampire powers she possesses.
Through most of the series, she assumes a younger form as an 8 year old. She wears a loose dress and a pair of sandals, with an aviator hat as an accessory in Bakemonogatari.
1. Filo Anime From The Rising Of The Shield Hero
Filo can change to her human form, which takes the appearance of a young girl with wings on her back.
She wears a white dress with a blue bow on the center made out of magical crystal threads so they don’t break when she transforms into her beast form. She also always goes barefoot.
Her eyes in both forms are blue. Filo later gains a cowlick that sticks vertically out of her head, which serves as a symbol of Filo’s succession from the Filolial Queen, Fitoria.
