Who are the best anime girls with brunette hair?
We all know that redheads are fiery, blondes are more fun, and black-haired girls are mysterious, but what about girls with brown hair?
Anime uses all the colors of the rainbow when it comes to hair.
Blonde, pink, green, you name it.
For this post, I’d like to focus on the girls with brown hair. It is just to show that you don’t have to have crazy hair to be a waifu.
45. Sailor Jupiter From Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon is about a young girl named Usagi. On her way to school, she finds a cat in trouble and helps it.
The cat, Luna, shows that it can talk and tells Usagi that she is Sailor Moon, a guardian of the stars, and that she needs to find the other sailors if she wants to protect the world from evil.
Makoto Kino, who goes by the name Sailor Jupiter, is the tomboy of her group. Her peers are often scared of her because of how tall and strong she is, but she is a kind and loyal person.
As Sailor Jupiter, she can protect herself and fight her enemies with lightning.
44. Asuna From Sword Art Online
Kirito is one of the first people to play the new Virtual MMORPG game Sword Art Online (SAO). He finds out that he can’t log out of the game while doing tasks.
He isn’t the only player with this problem. He finds out that every player is stuck in the game until they either beat all 100 levels or die.
When you die in the game, you also die in the real world. If Kirito wants to get out of the game, he has to stay alive and finish all the rounds.
Asuna is the first real player in SAO to join Kirito’s group. She is a kind and proud swordswoman who watches over Kirito and her friends, often putting her own life in danger to save them.
As time goes on, she also starts to have feelings for Kirito. She has brown hair and is one of the most popular anime characters with brown hair. Fans like her because she is strong, brave, and determined.
43. Gabi Braun From Attack on Titan
Gabi Braun is another person in Attack on Titan. She joins the show later, at the beginning of season 4.
She lives in the Liberia prison zone and is Reiner’s little Eldian cousin. She trains as a fighter candidate, and if she keeps going, she might be able to get the Armored Titan power.
Gabi is another anime character with brown hair. Even though she is small, she doesn’t let anyone walk over her.
She stands up for what she believes in and will never give up on a friend who is in trouble.
42. Yuki Cross From Vampire Knights
Cross Academy is a school where the Day Class and the Night Class teach two different groups of students.
The Day Class doesn’t know that the Night Class students are vampires. Only Yuki and Zero know, and they must keep order and peace to keep the truth from getting out.
Yuki is a human from the Day Class. Even though she is afraid of vampires, except for one called Kaname Kuran, she takes her job at the school very seriously.
She cares about people, and her positive mood is an inspiration to many of her fans.
41. Nagisa Furukawa From Clannad
Clannad is about a guy named Tomoya who doesn’t care about school until he meets a shy girl named Nagisa. To please her, he agrees to start up the drama club.
Along with Tomoya, Nagisa is one of the main characters. Due to her bad health and weak immune system, she has short, wavy brown hair and looks very small and frail.
Even though she looks weak, she is very kind and generous and will often put the happiness of others before her own.
40. Ringo From Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys)
I totally see Ringo as the ultimate tsundere-lite character!
She’s always so Genki, but when she’s up against the guys, she gets super competitive! And when she loses, she’s not exactly the most graceful about it…
If those guys dare to deceive her or even slightly hurt her, they better be prepared to face the wrath of a determined Sakura in the final battle! She won’t hold back her punches!
She’s such a classic anime character, always getting sidetracked by the smallest things like a cute meow or the mere mention of food.
But it only enhances her kawaii and moe appeal.
39. Izumi Akazawa From Another
Izumi-chan is such a polarizing character, isn’t she? You either adore her or despise her. It’s quite clear which side I’m on, hehe~
Alright, she may not be the most kawaii. But wow, she’s such a badass! She always gets things done her own way!
She’s so cool! She’s not afraid to take charge and save the day by finding the extra and putting an end to the calamity!
She’s totally a tsundere, which is like the ultimate win in my book!
Her humbleness and willingness to acknowledge her flaws are like the cherry on top of an already delicious cake.
38. Rinka Hayami From Assassination Classroom
Her nickname is “the tsundere sniper,” which sounds like a big deal.
She and her partner in crime are the adults of the group. They usually keep to themselves and don’t do anything crazy.
But she is more than trustworthy. And I think it’s one of the best things about the class.
Nagisa has the thunderclap, and Karma can easily steal your girl.
But the long-range is too strong, and Rinka is so cute when she is carrying a kitten.
37. Chisato Higuchi From Asobi Asobase
Chisato-chan is the ultimate kawaii cookie cutter, but she’s so shy and awkward!
Kawaii point Ichi: she totally nails that short hair. Kawaii desu ne! Despite the kawaii girls’ playful teasing, she remains unfazed.
Kawaii point Ni: she’s super genki and always willing to join in on the fun with the girls, acting more like a nakama than a sensei.
Kawaii point San: she’s waifu material and seems like the perfect endgame partner.
No cons? Sugoi!
The truth has been revealed, the culprit has been unmasked, and justice has been served!
Case closed, fellow otaku!
36. Nadeko Sengoku From Bakemonogatari
Nadeko-chan can totally scratch two of your itches depending on what part of the series you are on; so beware of spoilers ahead, senpai!
At the start, she’s the quintessential dandere: kawaii, timid, stumbles over her words, and possesses the heart of a celestial being.
But then she goes full-on Orichimaru mode and enters the realm of Yandere.
If you’re in need of a Kawaii snuggle buddy or a slithery boa constrictor, Nadeko-chan is the perfect match for you!
35. Naru Kotoishi From Barakamon
In my humble opinion, Naru-chan is kawaii af and one of the most well-crafted loli characters in anime history, desu~
Kawaii desu ne! She’s so sugoi, always kyun-kyun and trying to spread joy to everyone.
At the outset, the protagonist perceived her as a bothersome character. But let’s be honest, she was a waifu material from the moment she made her debut.
Not to mention, she’s the one who guides Handa-sensei in the art of breaking the rules of coloring. Truly a top-tier character, I must say.
34. Kayo Hinazuki From Erased
When it comes to anime waifus, I frequently come across the phrase “We must safeguard her precious smile” and Kayo-chan fits that bill to a tee.
As a proud member of the kuudere squad, she exudes an air of indifference most of the time. However, her rare moments of blushing or smiling are absolutely priceless!
Even though the killer’s level of devotion to their relationship may surpass hers, I firmly believe that she deserves a place in the spotlight.
33. Ayumi Otosaka From Charlotte
Not only is she the most kawaii thing to have graced the Charlotte universe, but she also possesses a level of maturity beyond her years.
Umm, I was totally clueless about culinary skills back then. Or how to level up a building for that matter, nya~!
Kawaii! She’s totally part of our squad since she shipped Nao and Yuu from the get-go!
Her pout game is kawaii af and the face she makes when she gets under Yuu-senpai’s skin is just sugoi!
Konnichiwa! As an otaku, I must say that while sticks and stones may cause physical harm, it is important to refrain from entrusting sharp instruments such as scalpels to young ones.
32. Chisa Kotegawa From Grand Blue
In the midst of all the rowdy, inebriated, colossal-looking dudes in the anime, Chisa appears as docile as a little lamb.
But it’s not the kawaii kind of tame, but rather the senpai-like responsible type of tame.
And I must say, it works flawlessly.
Her ability to keep her distance from the shenanigans while also occasionally causing trouble for Iori makes her a formidable presence. Just like the ultimate antagonist of the aquatic waifu battles.
I do believe it’s worth mentioning the level of “family friendliness” exhibited by her cousins… But hey, that’s the way the news goes in anime, nya~!
31. Chiho Sasaki From Devil as a Part-Timer
Alright, let’s get this straight: The OTP of this anime is obviously Sadao and Shirou.
But Chiho-chan is definitely a worthy contender, nya!
Kawaii! She’s super lovable as she falls head over heels for Sadao-sama, and spends most of the show bawling over the demon spawn in the most adorable way.
Kawaii! She’s so clumsy, always dropping things, especially the fries. But can you blame her, nya?
If I had double cheeseburgers as she does, I’m sure my waifu body pillow would be disappointed in my lack of balance.
Oh no! The esteemed flatbread has gone missing! Emilia-sama also gets jealous around her, making for some splendid quarrels as well.
30. Rei Batsubami From Kakegurui
Describing Rei as slightly unstable is irrelevant since no one in Kakegurui is mentally stable.
Kawaii desu ne! I really appreciate the way they handled her character.
Firstly, she executed a Clark Kent-esque transformation by shedding her glasses, a classic maneuver.
And secondly, because she ascended beyond the bidding fiasco, broke free from her past and the shackles that were binding her.
Kawaii desu ne! Demo sore wa tada no watashi no kanjō ka mo shirenai.
29. Momozono Nanami From Kamisama Kiss
Kawaii! Nanami-chan may appear frail as a mere human, but her soul is undeniably powerful. Sugoi!
After ascending to the status of a land god and acquiring a foxy bishounen, she endeavors to utilize her newfound authority to bring together yokai and humans.
She even resorted to catfishing her comrade in that quest.
Nanami-chan is such a tsundere! She’s so stubborn and would rather perish than ask for assistance, which makes her exchanges with her familiar super boisterous… but also hilarious!
28. Satomi Murano From Parasyte
Satomi-san and Shinichi-kun are just like a classic “Beauty and the Beast” tale!
Thanks to our trusty handyman Migi, Shinichi-kun can’t seem to catch a break and is always in perilous situations where he must fight for his survival.
As one could expect, this has turned him into a brooding and suspicious otaku.
He must also keep it under wraps from Satomi-chan, his destined waifu-to-be. But does that deter Satomi-sama? It’s close, but not quite there, nya!
She’s the ultimate waifu who’s always by your side, teaching you live’s valuable lessons.
Nani?!
How could you even consider disposing of deceased puppies in such a dishonorable manner?
The proper way to show respect for their lives is to give them a proper burial.
27. Aoi Hinata From ORESUKI Are you the only one who loves me?
What better way to start the day than to be so scared that you can’t breathe?
This is Jouro’s life because Himawari can’t help herself whenever she sees him.
And for such a small girl, she has a lot of power, what with being the best tennis player at the club and all.
She has known Jouro since they were kids. This is a pretty common trope, so Jouro tries his best to use his nice guy TM moves on her.
But Himawari is so busy jumping up and down the wall that she doesn’t pay much attention to what he’s trying to do or who he really is.
She is the most talkative person in the group, and I think she is the cutest.
26. Chisato Mera From Saiki K
Mera-san is so kawaii! I usually don’t like characters who are too simple, but Mera-san is an exception.
Her ultimate moe point is that she is a broke-chan. And thus, she shall seize every chance to toil and indulge in any sustenance bestowed upon her.
And I mean everything, she went full-on vegan mode and chomped on grass like a true herbivore.
Her noble intentions are truly admirable, but it’s obvious that her ultimate goal is to provide for her family and ensure that her siblings never go hungry.
To be completely honest, if a Survivor-esque anime were to be produced, I would wager all of my currency on Mera.
She’s like a tsundere version of Bear Grylls with a tendency to get easily triggered and lacking in proper communication abilities.
25. Aina Kuronuma From Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto
If Aina-chan was from another anime, I wouldn’t have been able to appreciate her as much.
Yatta! We made it desu~! She’s the ultimate waifu that has every otaku simping over her, and fellow fangirls hoping they would get the Senpai notice.
But when paired up with Sakamoto-san, things become much more sugoi!
Kawaii desu ne! At first glance, she may seem like just a pretty face, but upon closer inspection, her flirtatious tactics are meticulously planned and absolutely genius.
Sakamoto-sama, as expected, is unfazed by her brilliance and continues to be the god among men, leaving her in a state of flustered admiration.
Flustered brunettes are my ultimate kryptonite, nya~!
24. Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakova From Youjo Senki
Tanya is always called the best fighter by everyone in the show.
But hello, Viktoriya is just as good!
She might not have as much power over us as blonde Hitler. She gets the job done, though.
She has helped Tanya out of trouble and is possibly her most loyal soldier. The most impressive thing about her is how quickly she got better.
She went from whimpering around to sleeping like a lamb just hours before a big fight.
The girl has very strong muscles. She is also one of the few people who is happy, which shows how smart she is.
23. Hakaze Kusaribe From Zetsuen no Tempest
When a character falls in love, they often lose a lot of what made them great.
But Hakaze isn’t like that, thank goodness.
At first, she reminded me a lot of Erza. You know, the tough, independent woman who, even though she was in a bad situation, found a way to get out and fight for herself.
But even after she falls in love with a certain pseudo-psychopath, she is still very realistic and likable.
This girl knows how that person affects her and acts accordingly. In this case, I can’t help but praise the good character writing.
22. Sasha Braus From Attack on Titan
This show is already pretty dark, but if Sasha were a titan, she would probably eat the whole group in the first episode.
Sasha is so hungry for pain, meat, and potatoes that people call her “Potato Girl.”
She will steal food if she has to, and she will bite off your hand if you try to stop her.
I like her so much because she’s different. Her cast includes a crybaby, a kuudere, a smart crybaby, a horseman, a personification of edge and s*x appeal, etc.
It’s good to have at least one figure who makes people laugh.
She hasn’t really taken on a giant on her own yet. But the game is over if she thinks they look good.
21. Maki Oze From Fire Force
Maki is half badass and half a goofball in love.
As a former fighter, she can hold her own in any fight. Even third-generation pyrokinetic are no match for her.
She also has one of the most interesting skills in the show, even if her fire friends have strange names.
On the other hand, if you say the word “romance,” her mouth starts to foam. She doesn’t like to think about true love, fate, and other mushy things.
So her name must mean more than one thing about her.
On top of all that, she’s cute as hell, which makes her an ideal wife.
20. Naho Takamiya From Orange
Naho is like the success story of a dandere.
At first, she didn’t say much of what she thought, especially when it came to her romantic thoughts.
Plus, she didn’t care much about how other people felt.
But because of some tricks with time travel, we see Naho glow up, at least a little bit.
On the day she could have sung “How to Save a Life,” she stepped up to the plate and did something that was out of her comfort zone.
I really like Naho. She is such a sweetheart, and Orange is one of the best shows with a love story.
19. Mirai Kuriyama From Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary)
It’s time to love d-d-d-dandere!
Mirai is a Spirit World Warrior, but she is very shy and gets scared when she thinks about meeting a Youmu.
So the usual way to make a living is to kill them, which is “unpleasant” for poor Mirai.
When we talk about being poor, Mirai had to be very independent because she had to make money on her own to buy food.
This makes her very determined and ready to do things she might not be too happy about.
Overall, she is a very clumsy character that you can’t help but cheer for.
18. Megumi Noda From Nodame Cantabile
Breaking up with Megumi is possibly the worst thing that can happen to a person.
She is, without a question, a very good pianist, but when it comes to expressing herself, she is very unpredictable and unique.
She might get a little bit sexual every now and then, or she might have an amazing jump-kick.
But in the end, it’s all because they love each other, right?
Her past may not have been the best. But it’s fun to see her have an effect on Chiaki and slowly pull the stick out of his behind.
17. Kosaki Onodera From Nisekoi
Kosaki and her family have made a name for themselves in the candy industry because they are genuine sugar cupids.
Too cheesy?
In general, Kosaki is a strong supporter of the dandere ideology, which, as we all know, produces the best waifu.
She struggles greatly with communication and isn’t quite confident in herself.
This is why it’s great fun to watch any scenario in which her eccentric and slightly off-the-wall mother appears.
16. Ayumu Kasuga From Azumanga Daioh
Did no one else grow up hearing the Osaka cliche? Is that something people do?
Within the canon of Azumanga Daioh, yes. And Ayumu is, well, very distant from that.
The class she transferred to got a copycat of Dorothy Unsworth instead of a loud and lively Osakan.
It would appear that Ayumi spends most of her time daydreaming, fixating instead on visions of demon ponytails or cryptic riddles.
She is the group’s biggest dose of reality, so it’s no surprise that she has a keen mind. But don’t care enough about their education to do well.
15. Haruhi Fujioka From Ouran Koukou Host Club
One of the guys is a girl, so he and his pal are forced to hang out five feet apart in the fountain.
Although she identifies as female, she would rather be evaluated on the merits of her character than her gender.
She has fantastic communication abilities and doesn’t fumble for words.
She is also not the type to use corny pick-up lines, which makes her a fantastic hostess.
They create a great comedic duo with Tamaki.
14. Mikoto Misaka From A Certain Magical Index
The ship of Misaka and Touma is fantastic; can we all agree on that?
At first glance, Misaka may have seemed like a minor character. Their connection, however, grew more intriguing as she gained more notoriety.
She’s a tsundere, and she packs quite a punch.
Her extreme mood swings, as one would expect from a level 5 esper who can zap you to the shadow realm, are reason enough to fear her.
Especially if you photograph the two of you alongside TOUMA, her mother.
13. Megumin From KonoSuba
Due to my love for KonoSuba, I’m going to be particularly partial to this answer. Megumin, in particular, is a highlight of the event for me.
There’s never a dull moment with the tiny crazy magical girl who loves to blow things up.
Her troll face is just as adorable as Ayumi’s, and her cat is just like any other.
Her friendship with Kazuma, despite Kazuma’s periodic advances on particularly chilly evenings, is also endearing.
When a protagonist appears to be too perfect, I find it hard to connect with them. As a result, I have a lot in common with the immature, trigger-happy, slime-covered Megumin.
12. Nana Komatsu From Nana
I’m alright with the fact that this show has broken me multiple times.
The following also contains hazy spoilers.
Even though Hachi seems to serve only as a foil for the other Nana at first, he quickly proves to be a fascinating character in his own right.
As the series progresses, though, she develops layers and becomes less likable but more believable.
Not only does her character indicate that decent guys don’t always come out on top, but she also reveals some fascinating human frailties and the lengths to which people will go in search of happiness.
I would also urge you to check out the show if you haven’t already. Believe me, it has the broadest choice of best boys I have ever seen.
11. Diane From Seven Deadly Sins
Diane’s endearing qualities are a double-edged sword; she’s as gentle as sugar but also capable of crushing you with no effort on her part.
Even though everyone is too short for her, you get the point: men everywhere should admire her for presumably only having crushes on short kings.
What they did with her later in the performance, when she began using dance to improve her combat skills, was brilliant.
It gave her an air of terrible grace, and I can understand why Drole thought she’d make such a good ruler of the giants. And that beautiful dark hair, of course.
10. Misaki Nakahara From Welcome to the N.H.K.
Misaki is also exceptionally kind, albeit her motivations are more grounded in realism.
The initial impression was that she was aiding Satou just out of kindness, which didn’t win me over.
However, later on, we find out how her mind actually functions. And now she’s facing the harsh realities of life.
It’s true that she’s a nice person. She single-handedly influenced Satou to become a better person and to develop genuine friendships.
To be fair, it was motivated by selfishness at first, but that’s enough analysis for now.
Misaki is simply a trustworthy friend who has boundless patience and the determination to see her objectives through to fruition.
9. Ochaco Uraraka From Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)
You can tell a lot about a person by asking if they would rather see Uraraka with Bakugo or Deku.
Uraraka is a hardworking young lady who is attempting to aid her family while also rescuing other individuals.
Her unique quirk can be applied in a variety of contexts and has surprising power. Even Bakugo was convinced by her arguments.
Above all else, it’s the kind of wholesome entertainment we could all use to see her wiggle her way around Deku while he does the same.
8. Cana Alberona From Fairy Tail
Cana, the doomed pupil of Bacchus, never seems to be without a beverage.
When we say “drink,” we mean the whole barrel.
I’ll also say in shame that she has a little trouble letting go of her father.
However, she does have a lot of ambition, as evidenced by her desire to become an S-class wizard. To an alarming degree, at times.
That’s why she’s the guild leader when she’s sober and focused. Especially in a critical situation.
Her fighting technique has some serious Twisted Fate undertones.
7. Haruhi Suzumiya From Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
There’s no denying that Haruhi can be a handful.
She is quite bossy, forceful, and oddly adept at removing clothes from other women. Which is hardly unprecedented in the world of anime.
The specific circumstance in which she finds herself is something else entirely.
She is loved by many since her adorableness is unmatched.
And her occasional candor tugs at the heartstrings, driving up demand for the Haruhi Scriptures.
6. Raphtalia From The Rising of the Shield Hero
Man, after a pretty anime girl came out of slavery, people totally forgot about it.
The perfect moe character arc for Raphtalia would have been for her to grow up and take care of Naofumi.
But many of her childish ways remained intact. Now, in addition to being adorable, she is also a lethal and trustworthy weapon. Good pair.
And when Filo enters the picture, we see a more mature and flirty side of her.
5. Ryouko Ookami From Okami-san and Her Seven Companions
Ryouko is a very typical tsundere when left to her own devices. She pushes her emotions to the side.
However, when combined with a dandere, she takes on a whole new dimension.
Her relationship with Ryoshi is intriguing. Ryoshi’s badass side comes out in the company of Ryouko, and vice versa.
She’s the ultimate badass lady boss. Her boxing prowess makes short work of assailants, and it’s somewhat understandable that she uses physical violence as her primary means of expression.
4. Mako Mankanshoku From Kill la Kill
The Kill la Kill television series is very funny. But it’s also the silliest, most bizarre humor around.
And nobody captures that mood better than Mako.
She’s the epitome of good chaos, always up to something and never afraid to say what’s really silly on her mind.
She seems like the type of friend you couldn’t be furious with even if they burned your house down because they are so darn innocent and pure.
Even Gamagori came around and developed a genuine affection for Mako.
She can start to see herself as a failure as a result. However, in my opinion, she is one of the show’s (and anime’s) most innocent and humorous characters, and if we’re talking brown hair, she might even be a best girl.
3. San From Princess Mononoke
When it comes to badass characters in anime, San has to rank near the top.
She’s on a wolf, for crying out loud.
It was clear from her opening remarks that she would be an influential figure.
The loss of her house was more terrifying to her than death itself.
So maybe she’s a little off her rocker, but even so, she’s amazing.
She doesn’t only have fangs, of course.
She certainly has a softer, more nurturing side, but I can’t help but think of her mostly as a badass.
2. Yui Hirasawa From K-On!
You’ll want to wrap up Yui in a blanket and keep her by your side forever.
She’s so full of life and joy and honey that it’s impossible not to laugh at her antics.
It’s like trying to keep the purity of a child of eight years old locked inside the body of a teenager.
This girl has a chill demeanor since she doesn’t give a hoot about learning. But I also don’t have time for nervousness before a performance.
Although she is terrible at multitasking, she excels at her single task of choice.
1. Holo From Spice and Wolf
If Raphtalia is the animated series, then Holo must be the manga.
She’s fantastic, from the tips of her dark hair to the ends of her animal ears and tail.
Actually, Holo is the more cultured of the two, and I don’t think she needs saving because she’s a very proud wolf-spirit girl.
And she’s got plenty of sass to boot, poking fun at Lawrence nonstop.
I’m a huge fan of the sub-army, and I have to say that the dub is excellent as well.
Having a touch of Britishness was a brilliant option to complement Holo’s air of superiority.
