And since we all love them so much, let’s dive into a list of tsundere boys that everyone so fawns over!
21. Uchiha Sasuke From Naruto
Uchiha Sasuke pushes the term tsundere to its limit.
Sasuke is toxic.
He is traumatied and scarred and has an unhealthy obsession with winning and revenge.
Gosh!
Sombody send this kid to therapy!
Sasuke nevertheless, in the beginning does show Naruto some warmth in the beginning.
Obviously, not in the sweet way we would appreciate, but Sasuke did stand in front of Naruto protecting him from Haku and still managed to play it off as his body moved on it’s own.
20. Sakishima Hikari From Nagi no Asu Kara
Prideful, impulsive and aggressive Hikari almost always looks down on people as inferior to him since first meeting them.
This judging on his part leads him to having difficulties accepting people, their affection and showing them any in return.
Hikari, however, over the course of the series gets comfortable and acknowledges the people over the sea while still retaining his difficulty to show and accept any love.
He often just changes the topic and makes no comment about it.
19. Karneval Gareki From Karneval
Gareki is very intelligent and practical.
He, like most other tsundere characters, is cursed with a not-so-good childhood causing him to distance himself from people are a coping mechanism and as a means of staying safe.
He has a tendency to bottle up is feelings even when characters die.
Due to these habits of his, he is unable to get hid “dere dere” side out and often switches to the “tsun tsun” way of things.
18. Yuu Kanda From D. Gray-man
Yu is often seen in his stoic, arrogant and cold exterior.
He often also shows little regard to the lives of his comrades.
He often tells those around him that if they don’t have the worth he won’t care if they die or that they better not slow him down.
He looks down on anyone who isn’t an exorcist and makes sure they do not expect to be saved.
His real personality of being kind and putting his life on the line for other shines through the cracks as he is frequently seen saving people in danger even while constantly complaining about it.
17. Kyouya Sata From Ookami SHoujo to Kuro Ouji
Long blonde hair with a cold attitude who thinks of himself in a princely manner.
It’s easy to pin him into the himedere category, but what really shows his personality is his slowly warming behavior with Erika.
His lonely past and parents’ divorce caused him to become cold to the idea of love.
Taking Erika as his “pet dog” but in the end manages to warm up to Erika and genuinely have feelings towards her.
His behavior towards her in the beginning is insulting but that is due to his princely status and superiority complex.
16. Sei Handa From Barakamon
His is passionate…but only regarding his work.
He is worked up or gets frightened easily but is extremely proud of his work.
He demands respect for his calligraphy is not afraid to punch anyone who insults it in the face.
He is shy and socially awkward which is why he is reluctant to take any kids under his wing to teach them.
However, over time, he grows more and more fond of them still keeping his strict teacher face on.
Sei has really good character traits like his pride and dislike for half-hearted work, that make him resort to his angry and cold side, making him an all-round tsundere character.
15. Barnaby From Tiger and Bunny
Barnaby is the upcoming son of a rich company and a very popular new hero.
Attractive, rich and over-all a good-hearted guy, Barnaby does everything in his power to make himself look good as a hero.
Barnaby has a troubled past that has lead him to become aloof and have an air of superiority and b cold to those who try to make friends with him, especially people he is supposed to work with like his partner Wild Tiger.
He doesn’t like Tiger’s personality in the beginning but warmed up to him eve attributing his successes to the teamwork between them.
14. Chiaki Shinichi From Nodame Cantabile
Shinichi goes from being a successful piano genius to a drunk man lying outside Nodame’s door, Shinichi had slid down a vicious spiral before he met Nodame.
After lots of efforts and much nagging and prodding from Nodame, Shinichi finally warms up to his frineds and family.
He helps them and become more caring and softer in his attitude.
Shinichi has a genuine fear of being forgotten and abandoned that he stays away from people since his dream of being a conductor is driving him towards perfection and away from people.
13. Nara Shikamaru From Naruto
Shikamaru is such an underrated character.
His lazy, not wanting to get involved kid of trouble or anything that makes him make an effort for anything and introvert behaviors often make it difficult for him to interact with people.
Shikamaru often tries to shoulder unnecessary burdens all by himself, even taking responsibility for letting Sasuke leave the village.
Shikamaru is often just shy, embarrassed and fumbles over his words because he is a man of reason and has a hard time dealing with any sort of emotions.
12. Vegeta From Dragon Ball Z
It’s so sweet to see this side of Vegeta where he isn’t just screaming or fighting.
Vegeta is the kind of person who will cross galaxies for the people he loves but as soon as it is time to tell them how much they mean to him, he’ll run exactly that much distance away from them.
Vegeta is just a person, who likes to focus on his work, keep his feelings to himself and live his life problem free.
11. Edward Elric From Fullmetal Alchemist
Edward deserves so much more that the love that he currently gets!
He might be genius alchemist but is definitely has to work on his skills in expressing his feeling.
He often just tries to play it off with a cool smirk or gets really fluttered while talking about the mushy things.
Edward is never a jerk, which is usually the starting point for most tsundere characters.
Edward just has a really hard time talking about feelings and emotions because he just gets really shy,
Uncomfortable and embarrassed as he never has talked about things like those.
10. Takumi Usui From Kaichou wa Maid-sama
Usui is often one of those perfect characters who are so perfect that they forget they are people.
Often just playing around and teasing Misaki about a job she has to take for her family situation.
Even though Takumi doesn’t see much in the beginning, he does warm up and protect Misaki from the trio on multiple occasions.
Takumi has a rough childhood which makes him unable to express his concern for Misaki’s declining health and increasing stress.
9. Tomoe From Kamisama Hajimemashita
Tomoe is a fox yokai and is one of the best, most respectful and real shoujo tsundere protagonists out there.
Tomoe is hardened to the concept of love due to the vast age difference between the ages of humans and yokai which caused him a lot of pain and shortly after the god he was devoted to left.
Tomoe is actually a very dedicated and moral yokai who will do anything for the ones he loves but is scared to show them any affection since he believes they will leave him too.
8. Inuyasha
This bitter loner half dog half human yokai is not the protagonist but stole the show.
His tsundere tendencies are only the beginning of why this series is such a great romance.
Inuyasha has been without love for a very VERY long time.
Although he doesn’t like and is cold to Kagome in the beginning,
He isn’t genuinely disrespectful or physically violent towards her.
Having difficulty in expressing his feelings, Inuyasha often gets shy and blushes when he tries to do so.
7. Jotaro Kujo From JoJo Bizarre Adventure
Good grief.
Jotaro will never tell you he loves you but he will stop you from going into an assassination where he knows you’re going to throw your life away even if he knows,
He might not come back alive.
Jotaro is an example of someone who will take care of you and keep it completely under wraps and if you find it out, he will blame it on someone else but never accept his feelings.
6. Ciel Phantomhive From Black Butler
It is really sad how anime fans just don’t see how well Ciel Phantomhive is as a tsundere characters.
Tsundere characters are not jerks that disrespect people, they are people who don’t know how to express their olve towards the people they actually care about in words.
So, they cover it up with anger or pretending like they don’t care.
Ciel has risked he life over and over again for the people that he loves and immediately gets embarrassed as soon as anyone thanks him for his kindness.
Ciel is a true tsundere.
5. Yuri Plisetsky From Yuri! On Ice
Yuri is extremely talented.
Yuri is extremely competitive.
Yuri is extremely tsundere.
Yuri doesn’t treat anyone nicely unless he is convinced they deserve to be treated otherwise.
Yuri bears hostility to almost everyone especially his competitors, thus not showing any kind of warmth to anyone.
He is foul-mouthed and will use any means possible if it lets him win.
Yuri is not a very social persona and takes time to warm up to people, but once he does, he is still shy of showing them any warmth so he covered it up with his tsun tsun or angry and cold side.
Yuri is actually a great example of a character who is written to be tsundere just owing to his skills and need to win.
4. Nifuji Hirotaka From Wotaku Ni Koi Wa Muzukashii
Hirotaka in Wotakoi is someone who would probably forget even to eat because he was so absorbed in playing his video games.
Although Hirotaka often comes off as aloof and a loner,
He does really enjoy the company of Narumi and everyone else being around him.
Hirotaka doesn’t shy away from showing affection, it’s just not in his personality to do so.
He behaves neutrally towards everyone.
That’s just how he is but he definitely shows Narumi affection by staying up late with her on-call as she finishes her doujishi,
Taking care of her stall at the convention when she needs to buy other doujinshis,
Going to the arcade with her and so many more little ways that Narumi really appreciates.
3. Katsuki Bakugou From Boku no Hero Academia
Bakugou will do everything in his power and go to all lengths to avoid any instance where he would either have to show or receive anyone the slightest amount of warmth.
He is crass, rough, arrogant and almost constantly angry.
His issues are caused majorly by his own personality traits like he aggressiveness, pride and a superiority complex.
To be able to give and receive affection one must be prepared to let their guard down which Bakugou absolutely refuses to do.
2. Zoldyck Killua From Hunter X Hunter
Killua is great at a lot of things assassination, his Nen abilities, planning and executing those plans, collecting cards, the Hunter Exam…
Showing and receiving affection is not one of those.
Killua hails from the Zoldyck family.
They are famous for their job as perfect assassins.
This leads him to live a life completely different from other kids being tortured in various ways, which did not give him a lot of time to explore any kind of familial affection.
Killua is a proper tsundere who reprimands Gon any time he tries to tell him Killua is his best friend or laughs it off if Gon shows him any kind of love.
1. Soma Kyo From Fruits Basket
This anime dominates the world of Shoujo genre!
The entirety of the Souma family is a treat to watch whenever they are on the screen, especially Kyo!
Someone who has always been an outcast, due to being the cat zodiac, Kyo never really learnt to accept affection except from his Sensei.
Every time Kyo tries to show or accept affection, He shies away from Tohru acting cold to Tohru and everyone around him, who try to warm up to him.
