The release date of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 2 has been announced as the first season came to a conclusion and fans couldn’t be any happier!
Popularly known as TenSura, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken became insanely popular when it started airing and went on to become one of the best isekai anime of the year and is on track of becoming one of the all time greats!
If you’ve been watching the show from its very first episode, then you’ve seen the main character grow from a lowly slime to the leader of an entire kingdom.
This unique take, featuring a slime as a protagonist, paid off big time and even after having a lot of standard cliché and tropes normally associated with the isekai genre, it managed to get people intrigued and made them look forward to the next episode.
So, after the successful run of the first season, it’s only natural for fans to have a high expectation from the sequel season as well. And if you have read the light novels, or the web novel, then you know exactly what’s coming!
Before I begin this article and talk about the upcoming season, I’d like to warn you about the spoilers for the upcoming arcs. They are quite major spoilers and although I will try to avoid mentioning them as much possible, it won’t be entirely possible because I am too excited to watch everything animated! So, let’s begin.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 – The Story So Far!
The story so far has been pretty good! From Rimuru gaining strong allies in the beginning to founding his own nation where all the monsters can live peacefully, and even signing trade treaties with neighboring countries and gaining their support, the show has shown us tremendous progress.
The first cour of the anime – up to the battle between the Orc Lord and Rimuru – had a good pacing, but the second cour is where the makers rushed through the story arcs leaving out a lot of major plot pints.
One of the biggest disappointments was how they completely sidelined Beretta in the final episode. He’s one of the strongest demons summoned by Rimuru and will be playing a major role in the upcoming story arcs. But the makers of the show just showed a few panels of the summoning and completely skipped his entire conversation with Rimuru.
The anime’s 23rd episode was the final episode of the main story, with the 24th being an anime-original episode showing the meeting of Shizu and Diablo (who’s going to be a major player in the next season) and 25th episode being a side-story showing the events of the show from Veldora’s perspective.
Unlike other anime shows, TenSura didn’t end the season on an epic final battle but focused more on fulfilling Shizu’s wish which was to save the children from dying. Rimuru managed to save them by unifying them with the spirits and after spending some time with them, he left to go back to Tempest. Just then, we had a first look at Hinata Sakaguchi, who was once a disciple of Shizu, hinting at a potential confrontation between her and Rimuru. We have already been teased of their battle in the opening credits of the first cour of the anime, but it will finally be aired in season 2.
Fans who have read the manga or the light novels must have been really disappointed at seeing the story play out in such a way. I am sure that people who’ve only watched the anime must have also felt the same way. However, what’s done is done and all we can hope for now is a good second season where they will take care of the pacing and not rush though important things.
What to Expect from TenSura Season 2?
Since the first season ended hinting a battle between Rimuru Tempest and Hinata Sakaguchi, the second season will begin from there. We won’t have to wait for a long time because their inevitable battle will happen sooner than you expect. Not just that, there is a ton more action coming compared to the previous season, along with a lot of dark and heartbreaking moments which will lead Rimuru to take a decision that he despised – becoming a Demon Lord!
If that’s not enough, then you should get excited as all the Ten Great Demon Lords will make their first appearance in the show. We’ve already seen Clayman, Karion, Milim, Frey and Ramiris and it’s now time for the rest of them to be revealed. This also means that Rimuru will face off against Clayman, who was responsible for the entire incident with the Orc Lord.
What’s more is that a fan favorite character will finally make a comeback. Yes, the Storm Dragon, Veldora Tempest, will be released from his prison and his eventual appearance is sure to shake the entire world!
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 – Release Date
The season 2 of the show has already been announced and is slated to release in 2020. An exact date hasn’t been revealed yet, but I am guessing that the show will release later in the year and not during the Winter.
In closing, I will simply say that if you liked the first season, then you are going to love the second season as well. If you have read the manga, or have completed the light novels and the web novels, then you already know what’s about to happen and you must already be too hyped up with all the excitement.
So, let’s just wait for Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken season 2 to drop and then we can have a discussion on how awesome it is! Till then, leave your feedback in the comments section below and let us know what you think is about to happen
