12. Castel, The Skyblaster Musketeer
When the meta was at its best, Castel, The Skyblaster Musketeer, was the face of it. Even though it isn’t used as much as it used to be, it’s still a great Xyz Monster.
It is made from common materials, and to Xyz call it, you only need two Level 4 Monsters. Depending on what you need, it has two different results.
It will put a Monster in a face-down Defense Position by removing one material. By removing two, you can put a card on the field that is face up back into the deck.
This lets you get rid of Monsters that are giving you trouble by killing them in fight or moving them so you don’t have to worry about them at all.
11. Evolzar Dolkka
Evolzar Dolkka is a strong Xyz Monster that can be used in Dinosaur decks. To Xyz Summon it, you need two Level 4 Dinosaur Monsters, which keeps it in Dinosaur decks.
Even though it has this limit, it has a great effect that keeps dinosaurs in the metagame.
When a Monster effect is used, you can remove a material from Evolzar Dolkka, cancel and destroy it, and then attach it to another Monster.
This effect doesn’t only happen once per turn, so it can be used as two (or sometimes even more) cancels to make it hard for the opponent to play Monster-based cards.
10. Evilswarm Nightmare
Evilswarm Nightmare is a must-have card if you want to play a deck with Dark monsters.
When your opponent special summons a monster or monsters, you can remove one XYZ material from this card to turn that monster face down right away.
This is great against decks that like to Synchro or XYZ summon.
You can’t do either of these things with face-down monsters, so Evilswarm Nightmare is a great way to stop your opponent from getting important resources they need to call monsters from their Extra deck.
9. Number S39: Utopia the Lightning
In Yu-Gi-Oh!, sometimes all you need is a big beatstick, which is exactly what this guy does.
Using a Number 39: Utopia as the only XYZ material makes it easy to summon S39.
Not only does this guy stop your opponent from using cards or effects while it’s striking, but you can also remove 2 XYZ materials from this card during damage calculation to make its attack 5000.
There aren’t many Yu-Gi-Oh! cards that can handle an attack stat this high. And if your opponent has any monsters with low attacks on the field, this can easily do enough damage to win you the game.
8. Evilswarm Exciton Knight
With this card, you can make a great comeback.
Evilswarm Exciton Knight is a common rank 4 monster that lets you remove 1 material from it to destroy every other card on the field, as long as you have fewer cards in your hand and on the field than your opponent.
Let your opponent set up a lot of monsters on the board, then blow them all up with a simple rank 4 monster when you go second.
7. Leviair the Sea Dragon
It’s usually very hard to get banned cards back into the rotation.
One of the best ways to get these cards back is to use Leviair, the Sea Dragon. You can take an element from this card and use it to special summon any level 4 or lower monster you banished.
This card is a must-have for your extra deck if your main deck has a lot of banning effects, like Phantom Knights.
6. Number 101: Silent Honour ARK
Sometimes monster destruction just isn’t enough.
With each new set of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, there are new and more strong monsters. As a result, there are more and more cards that can’t be destroyed by card effects.
You need to have this card in your deck if you want an easy way to deal with these risks.
By removing 2 materials from this card, you can attach a special-summoned monster that your opponent controls as XYZ material to this card.
On top of that, you can then detach that monster to keep this card from being destroyed in battle or by a card effect. This gives you a little bit of extra safety as well.
5. Number 60: Dugares the Timeless
On top of that, you can remove that monster to keep this card from being killed in battle or by a card effect. This also gives you a little bit more security.
- Draw 2 cards and discard 1 card at the cost of your next Draw Phase
- Special summon a monster from your graveyard at the cost of your next Main Phase 1
- Or to double the attack of a monster you control at the cost of your next Battle Phase
Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game that can end in as little as one turn. Since there isn’t a next Main Phase or Draw Phase to skip, getting these bonuses doesn’t really cost that much.
4. Tornado Dragon
Spells and traps are getting much stronger, and if you want to win, you’ll need a way to deal with them.
You can get rid of any spell or trap on the field quickly by taking away 1 material from Tornado Dragon.
This is a great way to deal with strong field spells. These cards need to be face-up on the field for their effects to work, so you can just chain Tornado Dragon to their activation to cancel out their effects.
3. Number 41: Bagooska, the Terribly Tired Tapir
It’s crazy that such a strong floodgate is on a rank 4 monster that looks like any other.
When this card is in defense position, all face-up monsters on the field change to defense position, and the effects of all monsters in defense position are cancelled.
This pretty much makes all of your opponent’s monster effects illegal, which is very hard to get around.
2. Abyss Dweller
In Yu-Gi-Oh!, the graveyard is one of the most important places to find things.
Almost every deck uses the graveyard in some way, especially since there are so many strong graveyard effects.
Abyss Dweller stops your opponent from using graveyard effects quickly, but it doesn’t stop your own graveyard effects from going off. When used against the right decks, this can kill whole plans in a single turn.
This floodgate is a great way to slow down your opponent’s play, and it’s easy to make in any level 4 monster deck.
1. Divine Arsenal AA-Zeus – Sky Thunder
Okay, the damage effect of this card is really the most powerful one out there.
You can XYZ summon Zeus with any XYZ monster that fought this turn, making it ridiculously easy to get on the field.
But that’s not all:
You can send every other card on the field to the graveyard by removing 2 materials from this card.
Because of the send effect, it doesn’t destroy any cards. This lets it get around monsters that can’t be killed by card effects and stops any effects that happen when a card is destroyed from happening.
Zeus is without a doubt one of the best ways to get rid of monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh, and any Extra deck with XYZ monsters should have it.
