How To Evolve Finizen & Unlock Hero Form in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet brought the series to a new level with an open world, new ways to fight, and the addition of more than 100 Pokemon species to the Pokedex.

Players can spend hours following one of the three main storylines and exploring the Paldea area to find treasures and Pokemon.

Trainers will find all kinds of surprises when they try out the new Terastallizing tool or try to finish their Pokedex.

For example, there have always been unusual ways to evolve, like trade, using Evolution Stones, or following the day and night cycle.

But the most interesting way to date is to evolve a Pokemon named Finizen. Finizen is a Water-type Pokemon that looks a lot like a dolphin.

It can be found in many places in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Palafin, its evolved form, and even after you catch Finizen, there doesn’t seem to be a way to make it evolve.

So, here is everything Pokemon players need to know about catching and evolving aquatic Pokemon.

Where to find Finizen?

Now, this is the easy part — Finizen can be found in every ocean in Paldea.

You can battle one off the beach, or you can wait until Koraidon and Miraidon can swim — which they learn after beating your third Titan Pokémon.

You will need the help of another player to grow Finizen. Finizen can only evolve in a multiplayer game, so you’ll need to use the Poke Portal to join the Union Circle with another person.

Once you’ve teamed up with another player or players, you’ll need to level up your Finizen to at least level 38.

You can get it to this level by fighting wild Pokemon or masters, or by using EXP Candies or Rare Candies.

At level 38, when you and another player are in the Union Circle, your Finizen will change into a Palafin.

Finizen can only become Palafin when it’s in the Union Circle and has reached level 38. It’s the only Pokemon that evolves this way.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Union Circle is a new online feature that lets players explore Paldea with their friends in real time by using a Link or room code.

You can get to Union Circle by going to a Pokemon Center or by pressing X and choosing the Poke Portal from the game’s main menu.

You can join or make a group of two to four people who all use the same code. Then, to evolve Finizen, players need to level it up to 39 or higher while in a Union Circle group, and it will change as normal.

Who Is Palafin?

Palafin has two forms:

  • Zero
  • Hero

The base form, or Zero form, looks just like Finizen but with the shape of a heart on its chest.

Its Hero form is bipedal and is significantly more robust than the Zero form, with its Attack stats increased by at least double.

The Hero form results from its signature ability, Zero to Hero, that activates once it switches out of battle.

It will finish the match in Hero form when it retakes the field. Palafin is a good team asset because of its Hero form and signature move, Jet Punch, which has increased priority.

Luckily, getting one is easy as long as players have internet and at least one other person to play with.

How To Transform Palafin Into Hero Form?

At first glance, Palafin looks almost exactly the same as its previous form. The only change is that it has a red heart on its stomach.

Palafin, on the other hand, gets a unique power called “Zero to Hero.” This lets Palafin change into its Hero Form, which greatly improves its base stats and appearance.

This can be done by switching the current Pokemon in battle or by using Flip Turn, a move that only it can do. Any way you look at it, when Palafin changes out, it will change into Hero Form.

Palafin will stay in Hero Form for the whole fight, but when it’s over, it will go back to its normal form.

Palafin’s stats are much better in Hero Form, especially its attack, which goes up to 160 stat points when it changes. This is one of the best base attack stats in the game.

Palafin is a very strong physical defender because of its high attack stat, but it takes a bit of work to get it into Hero Form.
