Shinkai’s Your Name was a good movie, but it wasn’t the only one worth watching from 2016 anime movies collection.

The long awaited story that tells how Araragi met Shinobu for the first time, and covers his budding friendship with Tsubasa. Kizumonogatari was in production for 6 years before releasing, and it was worth the wait for Monogatari fans.

Plot: Kizumonogatari is a prequel to Bakemonogatari and Nekomonogatari Kuro, adapting the Koyomi Vamp arc that tells the story of Koyomi Araragi’s fateful spring break and his first encounter with a vampire oddity named Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade.

In This Corner of the World was lowkey the best anime movie of 2016. It has been winning all of the prestigious critical awards, like from Kinema Junpo. The emotional story of a girl living in a small town outside of Hiroshima before the nuclear bombing has also been causing fans to shed so many tears.

Plot: A spirited 18-year-old woman is married off to a man she barely knows as she combats the daily struggles of living in Hiroshima during World War II.
