The staff behind the anime adaptation of the Solo Leveling manhwa written by Chugong and contributed by the late artist DUBU (REDICE Studio) made the announcement on Saturday in a video that the series will be receiving a second season.
The official title of the second season will be Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow.
Additionally, Crunchyroll has disclosed that it will be streaming the second season.
On January 6, 2014, the anime made its debut in Japan.
On January 20th, Crunchyroll uploaded the English dub of Solo leveling to their website.
Crunchyroll describes Solo Leveling:
It has been more than ten years since the beginning of the abrupt apparition of the “gates,” which are the pathways that connect our planet with an other dimension.
Since then, some people have become aware of the extraordinary abilities that they possess.
This category of people is referred to as “hunters.” Hunters are able to earn a living by utilizing their abilities to conquer dungeons that are located within the gates.
In a world where customers are difficult to please, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is referred to as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.”
At some point in time, Jinwoo suffers a fatal injury as a result of his encounter with high-rank double dungeons that are concealed within a low-rank dungeon.
A weird quest window suddenly materializes in front of him at that precise moment.
At the point where he is on the verge of passing away, Jinwoo makes the decision to accept the quest and begins leveling up, but the others do not.
Noboru Kimura (Gundam Build Divers, Nyaruko: Crawling with Love!) worked as the lead writer for the anime series that was produced by A-1 Pictures. The series was directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, who was responsible for Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory.
The characters were designed by Tomoko Sudo, who is known for her work on Alice in Borderland and Fragtime. Hiroyuki Sawano, who has worked on Attack on Titan, Blue Exorcist, Kill la Kill, and Mobile Suit Gundam UC, composed the music for the game.
Together with the composer Hiroyuki Sawano (SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]), the sibling idol group TOMORROW X TOGETHER from BTS performed the opening theme song, which was titled “LEveL.”
DUBU was responsible for the pictures that were included in the manhwa adaptation of Chugong’s Solo Leveling novel series, which was published on Webtoon services in March 2018 and continued until December 2021.
The English translations of the manhwa and original novel series are published by Yen Press.
The manhwa is published in Japanese by Kadokawa under the title Ore Dake Level-Up na Ken, which translates to “I’m the Only One Who Has Leveled Up.”
There is also a Korean live-action version that is being inspired by the manhwa.
