When it appeared Isshiki Otsutsuki was going to get more of Naruto or Sasuke, Kurama revealed a hidden trump card that ensured the victory of the shinobi in the battle against Kara’s leader.
Through the decades, Naruto has learned many changes, each more powerful than the other, but none of them did the trick against Isshiki Otsutsuki. He was unaffected by Chidori or Rasengan.
We all believed that Naruto was finally at his highest level and wouldn’t get any additional powers-ups. Fans were also hoping to witness Naruto receive an inevitable nerf at some point or another.
It appears that Ikemoto and Kishimoto have killed two birds with a stone because Baryon Mode is set to smash all of Naruto’s earlier transformations to the max and at a hefty cost.
Naruto uses Baryon Mode in Episode 216 against Isshiki Otsutsuki. Baryon Mode is a fusion of Naruto and Kurama’s chakras to produce new energy that can eat away at the Isshiki’s life span.
The cost of taking advantage of the transformation was the loss of Kurama’s life as all his chakra was consumed rather than Naruto’s.
About Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is illustrated and written by Mikio Ikemoto, and directed by Masashi Kishimoto. The series was first published within Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in June of 2016.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the show that follows the adventures of Naruto’s son Boruto in his school time and beyond.
The show explores the development of the character Boruto and the impending evil that threatens his fate and his family members.
What Is Baryon Mode?
Baryon Mode fuses Naruto and Kurama’s chakra into an entirely new form of energy through a process similar to nuclear Fusion.
Kurama describes the process as to how the sun generates energy by combining subatomic particles, known as Baryons. This is how the method takes its name.
In contrast to the typical Kurama Mode or Six Paths Sage Mode which relies on using chakra from another place, Baryon Mode consumes Kurama and Naruto’s energy and duration as raw material.
Their chakra is not replenished and the transformation continues to feed their chakra until their lives are over.
Baryon Mode requires intense focus to keep. The change makes it impossible to think of excessive thoughts or actions since it devours chakra at a more rapid pace.
Baryon Mode is activated when Kurama is able to clap his palms together, which is followed by a smoke billow changing Naruto’s appearance. The effect wears off after or Naruto and Kurama’s chakra is completely consumed.
What Are The Abilities Of Baryon Mode?
Baryon Mode surpasses all of Naruto’s previous transformations in terms of the power and speed it offers.
While Kurama Mode was unable to even scratch Isshiki, even using Chakra Arms, Baryon Mode was able to score numerous hits and keep pace against the Otsutsuki.
Naruto was able to effortlessly escape Isshiki’s attacks and captured his black rods with high-speed speed which even Sharingan could track.
An added benefit is that the energy generated and released from Baryon Mode eats away at the lives of all those that it comes into contact with such as Otsutsuki.
Every blow, Naruto was able to cut off a tiny portion of Isshiki’s existence, reducing it from 20 hours to a mere few minutes.
Does Naruto Survive Baryon Mode?
Naruto is not dead from his use of Baryon Mode. The transformation benefited Kurama’s energy instead of Naruto’s.
Although Jinchuriki typically dies when their tails are taken away, Naruto wasn’t harmed since Kurama’s chakra had been used up.
Baryon Mode was the last alternative against Isshiki. The disadvantages of the technique would usually be greater than its advantages however it was the kind of shinobi that was needed to win the race against Isshiki.
Kurama lies to Naruto regarding Baryon Mode, claiming both their lives as Naruto would not have agreed to use the technique in any other way.
The method was able to leave Naruto relatively unharmed, even though he was without his previous unlimited chakra reserves after Kurama has gone.
