Amazing to think that the remake of Resident Evil 4 has been out for almost a year now. Even crazier is the fact that some people still haven’t played it. That’s possible, since 2023 was a HUGE year for video games.
But if you’ve been putting off playing Resident Evil 4, now is the time. Capcom’s critical acclaim remake will have a Gold Edition out by this time next week.
Capcom has confirmed that the Gold Edition will be available from February 9, 2024, but it has not yet revealed how much the full version of the remake will cost. It’s likely to cost $70, though, and it might be a little less on last-generation consoles.
Additionally to the main game, the Gold Edition includes Ada Wong’s Separate Ways DLC and an extra DLC pack with weapons, outfits, and other gear that were only available in Resident Evil 4’s Deluxe Edition.
Thus, starting next week, if you don’t already have Resident Evil 4, you’ll be able to buy the whole thing in one convenient package. You can also buy the game again and play it through a few more times if you enjoy it as much as I know some people do now.
I think a lot of people will want to buy the Gold Edition even if they already have the base game and all the extras that come with the new version that comes out next week. It could be the best Resident Evil game ever made.
Capcom’s first three RE Engine remakes are complete works of art, and each one may have gotten better than the last. What the studio does next with remakes is still a mystery, though.
It might seem like the next logical step is a Resident Evil 5 remake, but it might be harder to build that game from scratch than the first three. Fans want Code Veronica to be remade next, or Capcom might go back to the beginning and remake the first Resident Evil.
The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will all be released on February 9, 2024. The game will work on both recent and older consoles. Capcom made a risky move by releasing it just as the video game release schedule was about to pick up steam again, but I’m sure Resident Evil 4 will succeed.
