New Vegas Director Has Interesting Take On Fallout TV Series

The Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer of Obsidian Entertainment commented on a reference to his game made near the end of the new Fallout Amazon series.

Before he started working for Obsidian Entertainment in 2005, Josh Sawyer was a designer at Black Isle Studios, working on the Icewind Dale franchise.

Recently, Sawyer directed Pentiment, a 2D historical narrative adventure game that got good reviews when it came out on Xbox Game Pass in 2022.

One of the best video game adaptations ever made is Amazon’s long-awaited Fallout TV show, which just recently debuted on Prime Video.

The two most recent Fallout games, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, have seen players return in large numbers as a result of the show’s enormous success.

As the conversation surrounding the show has continued to spread across the internet, the franchise is gaining a lot of new fans.

In response to a certain shot of the Mojave Wasteland, some fans have expressed concern that the show may have changed important parts of Fallout: New Vegas.

Todd Howard, the franchise director, talked about these worries and reassured fans that New Vegas is still part of the fallout universe.

One interviewer at Rock Paper Shotgun asked Josh Sawyer how he felt about New Vegas’s short appearance in the show and how he’d feel if Bethesda decided to bring it back or if any future Fallout project had an effect on it.

Sawyer answered, “I don’t care what happens with it.”I don’t own any of the warped properties or characters I create. It was not mine. And the thing I made is the thing I made.”

Obsidian’s Josh Sawyer Isn’t Concerned About What Happens With Fallout: New Vegas

This may seem odd coming from a well-known creative mind in the gaming world, and Sawyer’s stance may lead fans to think that he and Bethesda are at odds with each other.

Sawyer explained why he had such a mind set: “I don’t think it’s healthy for me to be invested in something I can’t control.”

With Fallout in the air, man y fans of the franchise are wishing for Xbox and Bethesda to let Obsidian take Fallout for another spin, since Bethesda Game Studios’ Fallout 5 isn’t expected until at least 2030.

It would be interesting to see if Josh Sawyer would be interested in going back to the Fallout world or if he would choose to keep making smaller games for Obsidian, like Pentiment.

I don’t feel like it’s healthy for me to be really invested in something I have no control over

With only a few weeks under its belt, the Fallout show has already been given the go-ahead for a second season. Avowed is slated to be released later this year for Obsidian fans, though.

At Xbox’s June show case, players can anticipate learning more about the fantasy RPG and its release date. On top of that, Obsidian is working on a follow-up to The Outer Worlds, a sci-fi RPG coming out in 2019. However, no new information has been shared in a few years.
