Twin Engine has recently revealed that the highly anticipated Mononoke anime film is set to premiere in Japan on July 26. In addition, the company unveiled additional cast members and released a second teaser trailer for the film.
The company also announced the complete title of the film: Gekijōban Mononoke: Karakasa (Paper Umbrella).
Introducing the new cast of Mononoke:
Tomoyo Kurosawa portrays the character Asa, while Aoi Yūki brings life to Kame. Mami Koyama takes on the role of Kayama in the series Mononoke.
The film was originally scheduled to be released last year, but faced a delay.
As part of the announcement of the delay in February 2023, the film’s staff also shared that Takahiro Sakurai would not be returning to play the role of the Medicine Seller as originally intended.
Hiroshi Kamiya has been chosen to voice the protagonist, the Medicine Seller, in the film.

The Mononoke anime first debuted in 2007 and consisted of 12 episodes. The series is a spinoff of the Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales anime.
More specifically, it focuses on the medicine seller from the “Bakeneko” (Goblin Cat) arc.
The Mononoke anime consists of five arcs, with the final one being called “Bakeneko.”
The television anime was directed by Kenji Nakamura at Toei Animation, with Takashi Hashimoto designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.
The music was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi.
The anime used to be streamed on Crunchyroll, but it can now be found on other streaming services like The Roku Channel and Netflix.
The series was released on DVD in North America in 2014 by New Video Group.
