Tekken 8 Bot Gets to Destroyer Rank Pressing One Button

By pressing a single button, a fan-made Tekken 8 bot managed to achieve the online rank of Destroyer. Since its release in 1994, Bandai Namco’s 3D fighter franchise has amassed a sizable and devoted fan base. However, not all Tekken players agree on the best ways to play the game.

A Tekken 8 bot made by one user shows that mashing the same move over and over again might be a popular strategy for a reason. Many players look down on “spammers.”

Players who repeatedly execute the same move string during a match or who spam a single button do so with very little variation in their attack patterns.

Eddy Gordo, who made his Tekken 3 debut, has long been regarded as one of the fighters most likely to attract spammers, not only because of his unusual moves but also because even Tekken veterans find it hard to predict his graceful and evasive capoeira style.

Eddy players, especially those in the lower ranks, have a bad reputation for constantly spamming to win matches, which has since come to be one of the inside jokes of the community.

There are plenty of long time fans who can attest to the character’s complexity.

One user tried to see how successful it would be for a player to spam several of Eddy’s powerful combo strings in Tekken 8’s online ranked mode. Jimmashima, a Twitch streamer, set free a bot that was only supposed to press one button, regardless of spacing, frame data, or character matchup.

He then let it loose on the game’s matchmaking system. The bot’s run was surprisingly good; it made it to the orange ranks of the game and reached its peak at Destroyer, which is only two steps away from Garyu and the red ranks of Tekken 8.

Tekken 8 Ranking System Explained

For example, Tekken 8’s online matchmaking is split into colour divisions that range from brown to gold, and each division has three separate ranks.

A new player starting at the very bottom would enter the sixth division, which is the orange ranks. Players at this level are still considered beginners, but a lot of players are in orange and the divisions below it.

Previous play statistics from Tekken 8’s replay system showed that reaching orange put a player on or above the level of more than half of the game’s ranked population.

Eddy’s return caused significant changes and debates in the Tekken 8 community, partly because he was the first DLC character for this version of the game and partly due to a number of game update and monetization changes introduced alongside the franchise.

The fact that complaining about Eddy spammers was still a common pastime in Tekken 8 made some series veterans laugh, though.
