When it comes to new characters in the Star Wars franchise, the recent trailer for The Acolyte has prompted some fans to notice a certain casting trend. Another popular sci-fi show has been lending its skills to a galaxy far, far away.
As long as a franchise stays popular, like Star Wars has, it will eventually start to attract stars from all over Hollywood and beyond.
There were rumors that NSYNC’s cameo in Attack of the Clones would not happen. Only the beginning began with that.
This hugely popular science fiction and fantasy show has used a lot of big names from strange places over the years, including Jack Black and Lizzo in a very famous episode of The Mandalorian.
It just goes to show how crazy the whole thing was that people frequently forget that Christopher Lloyd played a major role in that episode.
But a fan on the Star Wars Cantina subreddit recently said that new creatives are drawn to one franchise these days.
Now, Star Wars seems to have been eagerly stealing actors from the Matrix movies, whether they mean to or not.
Carrie-Anne Moss, who is well-known for playing Trinity in The Matrix, was in the new trailer for The Acolyte.
But her appearance is only the most recent in what may be a growing line of Matrix actors who are transitioning to Star Wars.
“Carrie-Ann Moss as a stern, martials arts using Jedi Master is peak casting and probably the thing I’m most interested in for the Acolyte”
Although they’re still very excited to see her in a role that seems made just for her, the original post made reference to two other specific stars in addition to Moss. For starters, it mentioned Genevieve O’Reilly, who is best known for playing Mon Mothma in Andor with such perfection.
However, she became famous for her role as Officer Wirtz in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions early in her career.
The post also had Jessica Henwick, who is known for her roles as Nymeria Sand in Game of Thrones and Peg in Glass Onion.
In Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens, she played pilot Jessika Pava, and in The Matrix Resurrections, she played Bugs, to win. Even though that’s already a trend, these three aren’t the only ones.
Many users pointed out that Matt Doran, who played Mouse in The Matrix, also played Elan Sleazebaggano in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones, which is a pretty well-known role.
There you have it. Star Wars fans have been in The Matrix ever since they were first offered death sticks. Surprisingly, the same scene also has another Matrix reference: actress Fiona Johnson makes a cameo to talk about her role as “The Lady in Red” in the first Matrix movie. So maybe this trend isn’t just a random occurrence. Infinity is never there.
“Dont forget Fiona Johnson who played the lady in red as well as making a cameo in Attack of the Clones in a shot which was a direct reference to her appearance in The Matrix And Matt Doran as Mouse who appeared in AOTC as Elian Sleezebaggano another shot that was adirect reference to the Matrix.”
It’s not like the trend only recently became popular because Moss’ appearance in The Acolyte has been known for well over a year at this point. Who else might join in the future now that everything is so much more visible? “We will riot if you don’t bring in Hugo Weaving and Lawrence Fishburne,” said one fan. Today, fans all over the world can’t stop thinking about Trinity and Morpheus fighting Agent Smith with lightsabers. The possibilities are endless.
