The upcoming sequel’s release window may have been accidentally shortened from “2025” by Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games.
Although Grand Theft Auto 6 doesn’t come out until next year, many fans are eager to know when they can play Rockstar’s next big game. A recent financial report may have given them that information.
Easily one of the most-anticipated games of all time, Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming out soon.
There was a lot of excitement because it took ten years from the release of GTA 5 to the release of its followup.
During that time, there were a lot of rumors and near as many leaks. Along with confirming that GTA 6 will definitely come out sometime in 2025, Rockstar finally gave fans their first look at the game in a record-breaking reveal trailer in December.
After such a long wait, many fans will probably be happy with any release window.
However, others will want to know as soon as possible where the game will come out within that time frame.
According to analysts Nick McKay and Michael Pachter, the most recent information from Take-Two Interactive suggests that Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t come out until at least early 2025.
Today, Take-Two lowered its $8 billion revenue prediction for the 2025 fiscal year (April 2024 to March 2025) to a slightly lower $7 billion.
Because of this change and the fact that GTA 6 is going to make the company a lot of money, analysts think that GTA 6 was supposed to come out in early 2025 but has probably now missed that window.
When in 2025 Might Grand Theft Auto 6 Come Out?
McKay and Pachter stress that the game won’t be completely postponed out of 2025; rather, it will launch later in the year, despite the potential consequences of missing the 2025 fiscal year.
Given that the majority of GTA games typically launch in September or October, a late 2025 launch may have been what many fans were already anticipating. Which month next year the game will launch in is still unknown.
Beyond the 2025 release date, the reveal of Grand Theft Auto 6 confirmed a few other important details, such as the return of Vice City, which was inspired by Miami, and the addition of two protagonists, including the first female protagonist in the series.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game are confirmed to be coming out, but if past trends hold true, a PC version of GTA 6 will probably come out after the console versions.
