Helldivers 2, the follow-up to the 2015 indie hit Helldivers, developed by Arrowhead Games Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, has already surpassed Destiny 2’s all-time S team concurrent player count in just a little over 10 days since its release.
This quick success underscores Helldivers 2’s quick impact and promising future in the gaming industry.
Helldivers 2 was officially announced at the PlayStation Showcase event in May of last year.
It showed that the game would play from a third-person view instead of its original top-down view.
Originally set to come out on PS5 and PC in 2023, the game was released on February 8, 2023, after being delayed.
But when Helldivers 2 first came out, it had a lot of major problems, like crashing, matchmaking issues, and login issues.
Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt quickly addressed the issue, stating that the studio was in “crisis mode” as it worked to resolve the issues and provide updates to the community via the official Helldivers Discord channel.
Helldivers 2 Surpasses Concurrent Player Counts of Several Renowned Titles on Steam
Despite some early difficulties, Helldivers 2 has had a great start, breaking several well-known games’ all-time S Team concurrent player counts.
The game currently has 316,750 concurrent players, placing it 28th overall and ahead of well-known titles like Starfield, Counter-Strike, and Destiny 2. T
his is according to SteamDB’s All-Time Player Peak. Despite its best efforts to address the issue quickly, Arrowhead Game Studios has admitted that the increase in player numbers has resulted in server capacity issues, and it is currently having trouble accommodating all players.
However, the studio assures the community that it is working hard to resolve these issues and is committed to providing a solution as soon as possible.
As evidenced by the numerous updates Helldivers 2 has received since its release, it is worth noting that the developers are making significant efforts to ensure the game is error-free.
The most recent version, 01.000.009, was released just one day after the release of version 01.000.008.
It added new fixes and improved game stability while also fixing some reported crashes.
Also, players ran into a bug that changed the amount of rewards they got at the end of missions.
A temporary XP and Requisition multiplier of 50% was announced by the Helldivers 2 studio to address this problem.
The multiplier will stay in place until the end of the day on Sunday, February 18.
