11. Leeron

Without Leeron, the crew would not be worth anything. He is a brilliant scientist who can come up with ways to get out of any trouble.

One example is when he makes Dai-body Gurren’s into a giant paddle so that it can cross a body of water.

Leeron is also a good friend of Yoko’s because he can help her see things from a woman’s point of view.

In Gurren Lagann, he also has some great lines, like when Gimmy is around. Even after the time jump, he still likes to hurt the poor child. Gimmy also knows it.

10. Anti-Spiral

Anti-Spiral Gurren Lagann Characters

Little is known of the Anti-Spiral personally as Gurren Lagann Characters. Due to the fact that he summarizes the more basic traits of his race, his mannerisms are that of a scientist: he is very intelligent.

Since his race created the reality-bending Anti-Spiral technology, and he also is incredibly foresighted, having theorized the Spiral Nemesis long before the idea had approached any other species.

Despite having cast away Spiral Power long ago, he still retains the unshakable will that defines the most powerful Spiral beings, as he always stood firm in his millennia-long battle against the Spiral beings right up until his demise, and never displayed any sign of self-doubt, even when Team Dai-Gurren managed to break free of his near-inescapable traps.

9. Kittan

Kittan 1 1 11 Popular Gurren Lagann Characters

It’s hard to focus on just one Black sibling. Kittan has a bigger role than his anime sisters Kiyal, Kiyoh, and Kinon, so he is the obvious choice. But that doesn’t mean that his sisters aren’t useful.

Like everyone else in the anime, they grow and change as time goes on.

Kittan is great because he is very much like Kamina. He wants to be in charge, but he’s also a bit of a goofball.

Kittan quickly figures out his place and makes room for Simon to take the lead. He’s also a good brother who tries to do what’s best for his sisters.

8. Rossiu Adai

Rossiu Adai 1 11 Popular Gurren Lagann Characters

Rossiu starts out the anime as a devout follower of the religion of his village. But he soon finds out that it’s all a lie, which makes young Rossiu decide to go with Kamina and the rest of the crew.

During the first half of Gurren Lagann, he acts like a comic relief.

He keeps getting hurt, like when someone spits wine in his face or when Nia’s cooking makes his stomach hurt.

He is funny and tries hard, just like Simon. In the second half of the story, he changes into a bad guy. He is less likeable, but it is easy to understand what he is trying to say. Plus, things get better for him in the end.

7. Nia

Nia Gurren Lagann Character 1 1 11 Popular Gurren Lagann Characters

In the first part of the anime, Nia is another great character. Soon after Kamina dies, Simon finds her. She gives him a new reason to keep living.

Plus, she gives Simon someone to pine for without making him feel weird about Yoko and Kamina.

Nia is sweet and pure, so everyone on the crew fell in love with her right away. Plus, in a few episodes, she has a good rivalry with Yoko.

In part two, it turns out that she is part of an alien race that wants to destroy humans. Just like Rossiu, she is saved in the end, but only just.

6. The Spiral King, Lordgenome

The Spiral King, Lordgenome

In contrast to most of the antagonists in Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, Lordgenome is a full-blooded human being, though his Spiral Power signature is red rather than the usual green. His precise age is not stated as Gurren Lagann Characters, though Guame estimated him to be over 1,000 years old.

Lordgenome is a large, bearded and muscle-bound man towering at over seven feet tall. His bearish figure is further emphasized by robust patches of hair, which take the shape of a spiral galaxy on his chest.

He has tanned skin and dark-brown or black hair which is in heavy contrast with the light-colored hair and pale skin that he possessed in his youth. It is implied his usage of Spiral Power had drastically altered his appearance over time.

5. Viral

Viral Gurren Lagann Character

In the anime, Kamina has two rivals. Kittan is on the side of the humans, and Viral is on the side of the Beastmen.

At first, it seems like Viral is going to be the typical anime villain who keeps coming back for more. But his honour is more important than any soldier the crew fights. He knows when things are going wrong.

By the end, he is right there with Simon on Gurren Lagann, fighting for a new tomorrow.

He makes a great bad guy because he is willing to change and stay alive. He also shows that not every Beastman is bad by nature.

4. Yoko Littner

Yoko is shown to be a very mature and quite knowledgeable Gurren Lagann Characters, especially when it comes to survival and general common sense.

Yoko is a kind and caring person but can become quite irritable and aggressive sometimes, particularly when dealing with belligerent or uncooperative people, namely Kamina.

Despite this, Yoko is a person who can endure and even handle most situations while maintaining a level head.

Perhaps due to this, she has built up a well earned reputation as an excellent rifleman, a fact she is very confident in, as well as the resident sniper of the Dai-Gurren brigade.

3. Boota

Boota Gurren Lagann Character

For the majority of the series, Boota sticks around Simon and does very little as Gurren Lagann Characters. His main role is comic relief, but he appears in almost every one of Simon’s fights.

Once, Boota saved Simon and Kamina by willingly removing his rear end (which later grew back) as food for Kamina and Simon, revealing they can’t pilot when hungry.

He also tries to comfort Simon in moments of distress, but even his best efforts couldn’t snap Simon out of his depression over Kamina’s death.

2. Kamina

Kamina Gurren Lagann Character

If it weren’t for Kamina, Simon wouldn’t be half the man he is at the end of the anime. Likewise, Simon lit a spark in Kamina. Both are like different sides of the same coin.

In the anime, he dies quickly, but his heart keeps moving people around him. But Simon does a good job of picking up where Kamina left off.

Kamina is by far the best character in Gurren Lagann because of his memorable lines, which are put in different order as the anime goes on.

“Who the hell do you think I am?” and “Believe in the Kamina that believes in you” are two of the best.

1. Simon

Simon Gurren Lagann Character

Simon’s most notable physical traits are his wild dark blue hair, short height, deep indigo eyes and strong lean build, but this was not always the case.

Earlier in the series, for his age so he was quite short, shorter than even Nia, Rossiu and Yoko, all of the same age group. At age 14, he stood at approximately 5 feet, and was not as defined compared to the rest of the men in the brigade.

He had a lightly tanned baby face which may have not been so bad, was it not for the rest of his body which made him look younger than he actually was.
