The patch notes for Final Fantasy 14’s 6.58 content update came out in the middle of a busy March. They fixed some bugs and changed how some Job actions work in PVP.
This was confirmed by Final Fantasy 14: Patch 6.58 will let players get rewards faster from the Thaleia Alliance raid and The Abyssal Fracture (Extreme) trial.
Final Fantasy 14 will not get another content update until the Dawntrail expansion comes out in the summer unless there are any technical problems. Patch 6.58 is scheduled to be the last one.
Additionally, the 6.58 update came two days before the Xbox Series X/S version of Final Fantasy 14 was supposed to come out.
Square Enix confirmed just before the Xbox player went live that Xbox console players would need to use a new currency called “FFXIV Coins” on the Mog Station and On-Line Store. And this change only happened on the Xbox Series X/S game client.
On the desktop and mobile browser versions of the same stores, you could still use other payment methods, like credit and debit cards.
Although the 6.57 content update set the stage for the Xbox version, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.58 added more changes to the game. The Lynx of the Abyssal Grief Flute dropped at a faster rate during the Abyssal Fracture (Extreme) trial, which received some modifications.
A vendor in Radz-at-Han will also sell the flute for 99 Voidvessel Totems. Furthermore, the weekly limit on Thaleia Coins, Thaleia Treasure Chests, and Unsung Blades of Anabaseios has been lifted, which speeds up the process of getting gear.
When it comes to PVP Job changes, the Paladin’s defensive power was lowered while its offensive fire power received a slight boost. Additionally, the Dancer’s Honing ovation’s power from Acclaim stacks was cut in half.
Unfortunately, Final Fantasy 14 Patch 6.58 will also remove support for 32-bit operating systems and the DirectX9 client, even though it wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes.
Final Fantasy 14 will need a 64-bit OS that is compatible with DirectX11, even though the game may be supported without guaranteed play on these outdated platforms.
The Crystal Line Conflict game mode and The Burden of the Son (Savage) raid both had issues that Patch 6.58 helped to solve.
A problem with the Paladin’s Holy Sheltron PVP ability’s tooltip description was still open, but the ability will still work as it should.
Final Fantasy 14’s development team has a busy week ahead of them between the release of Patch 6.58 and the upcoming Dawntrail panel at PAX East. What needs to be seen is if any more changes need to be made before Dawntrail.
