Few enemies are as menacing as the Molduga in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Perhaps you remember the scene from the latest The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild?
That said, the approach may differ quite a lot mainly because of the new tools that you have in your arsenal now. This miniboss is unavoidable if you’re doing The Missing Owner side quest or if you’re simply exploring the Gerudo desert.
Looking for information on how to beat Molduga Zelda, our guide provides details of the sequence in addition to several possible strategies that players can try at the time of battle based on what they have on hand.
Molduga Locations
Gerudo Desert
Moldugas are found all through the Gerudo Desert with the common places being Toruma Dunes, the southern Oasis, and Dragon’s Exile.
Use Sensor+
If you have already marked a Molduga it is possible to use the Hyrule Compendium and enable Sensor+ to easily find them.
Marked Quests
Other main missions in the Gerudo region such as the “WANTED: Molduga” side quest will lead you right to their nests.
Molduga Battles Preparation
1. Stock Up on Bombs
Moldugas are mesmerized by vibrations, so bombs (especially remote bombs) work great in these fights. Use either Bomb Flowers with a box or Remote Bombs if you want to lure the beast to the surface.
2. Equip Powerful Weapons
Once you get the Molduga to surface, expect to dish out as much damage as possible in as short of time as you can. Wield your single most effective two-handed weapons, including first a Royal Claymore and second, a Savage Lynel Crusher. These will do a considerable amount of damage, even more, so when they are boosted with other bonuses, such as attack-boosting food effects.
3. Upgrade Armor
Moldugas charges so using better armor pieces will offer much-needed protection to the hero. The Desert Voe Armor is also recommended because this armor saves you from the extremely hot temperature in the Gerudo Desert.
How to Defeat a Molduga
1. Lure the Beast
Moldugas stay buried and become active only if there is any movement or vibration felt at the location. If you place a bomb on the sand near the movement of the creature, it will rush toward it, or towards what it believes to be its food.
2. Detonate the Bomb
Before the Molduga will launch an attack on the bomb, blow it up. This will knock off the Molduga on the ground a little and it will be paste for some time hence enabling you to attack it with ease.
3. Deliver Heavy Strikes
When the Molduga is disarmed use sprint to quickly approach it and release several heavy weapon strikes. Try to strike the body as much as possible with high-end gear weapons because once the drone is down you have a small window to attack.
4. Repeat the Process
In due course, the Molduga will disappear into a hole again for a while. Keep using the lure-and-bomb until finally the beast is destroyed. You must stun it several times before attacking it or the battle will end in failure, so this gives a clear indication that patience is needed.
Bonuses for Overcoming Moldugas
Battling a Molduga will give you good materials such as Molduga Fins, Molduga Guts, and Molduga Trophies. These items can be used to enhance some of the armor sets and brew special potions in a final breath.
Moreover, Molduga battles are associated with defeating side Are you, which also gives you even more rewards, Rupees, and unique weapons.
