A Condition Called Love: Sexy Zone’s Sensational Opening Song Released

Wednesday, Valentine’s Day, was the day when the official website for the television anime adaptation of Megumi Morino’s manga A Condition Called Love (Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai) began streaming a new promotional video for the anime.

This video premieres Sexy Zone’s “Kimi no Sei” (It’s Your Fault), the anime’s opening theme song.

Moreover, a fresh look was presented on the website.

The anime stars Kana Hanazawa as Hotaru Hinase (right on the visual above) and Chiaki Kobayashi as Saki Hananoi (left).

In April 2024, at 11:56 p.m. Japan Standard Time, the anime will make its debut on the 28 affiliate channels of TBS.

Tomoe Makino, who is renowned for his work on Aharen-san wa Hakarenai and Kotaro Lives Alone, is directing the anime at East Fish Studio.

The series scripts are being supervised and written by Hitomi Amamiya, who is known for her work on Merc Storia: The Apathetic Boy and the Girl in a Bottle and Chillin’ in My 30s after Getting Fired from the Demon King’s Army.

On the other hand, Akiko Satō, for her work on Trigun Stampede, is responsible for designing the characters.

Additional members of the staff include:

Soundtrack: yamazo
“Fumihiko Ootera” is the director of sound.
“Yōko Nakao” is the Art Director.
Those responsible for the color key are Yoshimi Kawakami, Katsumi Mochida, and Nanami Emoto.
Director of Photography Takuya Niwa is responsible for composing.

Kodansha USA Publishing will start the digital publication of the manga in English in 2020. Kazuhiro Nii was responsible for the editing.

The corporation published the manga’s first collected book volume in English in January 2023, and on January 23 of the same year, the public could access the sixth volume. In their description of the manga’s plot, Kodansha USA Publishing says:

Hotaru is a 16-year-old high school first-year who has always been ambivalent about love, preferring instead to have a lively life with her family and friends. So when she sees her schoolmate, Hananoi-kun, sitting in the snow after a messy, public breakup, she thinks nothing of offering to share her umbrella. But when he asks her out in the middle of her classroom the next day, she can’t help but feel that her life is about to change in a big way …


Morino published the manga for the first time in Kodansha’s Monthly Dessert magazine in December 2017.

Additionally, in November of 2023, Kodansha released the fourteenth collected book volume of the manga. Currently, there are more than 3.8 million copies in the manga circulation.

In the year 2021, the manga was awarded the title of Best Shōjo Manga at the 45th Manga Awards held by Kodansha.
