In 2023, anime fans were treated to an incredible series lineup, including Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy x Family, and Attack on Titan.
However, the upcoming anime series and sequels in 2024 are poised to surpass all expectations.

20. Great Pretender (season 3)
Wit Studio, Hiro Kaburagi, and Ryta Kosawa are the creators of the Japanese TV series The Great Pretender (stylized in all caps).
The series’ arcs are called “cases,” with the first case (the Los Angeles Connection) being released in June 2020 on Netflix in Japan.
The first three cases of the series (Los Angeles Connection, Singapore Sky, and Snow of London) were released globally on Netflix in August 2020. The fourth case (the Wizard of the Far East) followed in November.
The series was also broadcast from July to December 2020 on Fuji TV’s Ultra Anime programming block. Another installment, Great Pretender: Razbliuto, is scheduled to debut in February 2024.
19. Classroom of the Elite (season 3)
The same-titled light novels by Shgo Kinugasa and Shunsaku Tomose served as the inspiration for the anime television series Classroom of the Elite.
The announcement for the series’ third season came in March 2022, with Lerche again taking the reins as the producer, continuing their successful run from the previous two seasons.
The season is helmed by Yoshihito Nishōji, with Kishi and Hashimoto once again leading the way as chief directors, and Morita taking charge as the character designer. Yasushi Shigenobu teamed up with Hayato Kazano as the scriptwriter.
Masaru Yokoyama and Kana Hashiguchi are composing the music. The release of the season was initially planned for 2023, but unfortunately, it has been pushed back to January 2024.
This upcoming season will cover the remaining volumes of the first-year arc.
Yui Ninomiya performs the closing theme, “The Great Revolution of this World,” while Zaq performs the opening theme, “Minor Piece.”
The new season made its debut on January 3, 2024.
18. Demon Slayer (season 4)
In an exciting announcement, it was revealed that a third season will be covering the “Swordsmith Village” arc from the manga, following the thrilling second-season finale.
The third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, known as the Swordsmith Village Arc, covers chapters 98 to 127 of the manga and was broadcast from April 9 to June 18, 2023.
Akira Matsushima, who also serves as a chief animation director, created the character designs for the season under the direction of Haruo Sotozaki, and Ufotable produced the animation. The main cast from the second season also made a return.
A fourth season covering the “Hashira Training” arc was announced following the end of the third season finale. It is set to premiere in Q2 2024 with a one-hour episode.
17. Mushoku Tensei (season 2)
It was announced on March 6, 2022, that a second season of this anime had been approved.
Hiroki Hirano is in charge of the season, with Toshiya Ono in charge of the scripts and Sanae Shimada in charge of the character designs.
The second season will be comprised of 25 episodes and will be divided into two parts. The initial segment was broadcast between July 3 and September 25, 2023.
The second part is scheduled to premiere in April 2024.
The second season will be released in Japan as four Blu-ray volumes, available between October 18, 2023, and September 18, 2024.
The opening theme song is “Spiral” by Longman. Yuiko Hara sings the final theme song.
16. Kono Suba (season 3)
The official Twitter account for the KonoSuba anime confirmed on July 18, 2021, that a new anime project is currently in production.
The project was later announced to include a third season of the main series and an anime television series adaptation of KonoSuba: An Explosion in This Wonderful World!
Drive will produce both series, with Takaomi Kanasaki serving as the chief director under Yujiro Abe’s direction. The remaining members of the main staff are coming back from previous seasons.
KonoSuba: An Explosion in This Wonderful World! aired from April 6 to June 22, 2023, on Tokyo MX and various other networks.[48]There is a reference to a specific source.
The opening theme song is called “Stay Free” by Machico, and the ending theme song is called “Jump In” by Megumin (Takahashi) and Yunyun (Aki Toyosaki).
Crunchyroll has also obtained the rights to distribute the series. The highly anticipated third season is scheduled to debut in April 2024.
15. Astro Note
Astro Note is an exciting new Japanese anime television series that is sure to captivate audiences.
Shochiku and Telecom Animation Film are producing the show, which guarantees a top-notch viewing experience. The director of this project is Haruki Kasugamori, while the writer is Kimiko Ueno. Shinji Takamatsu is the chief director, and Kōhei Munemoto is responsible for composing the music.
Eisaku Kubonouchi created the original character designs, and Maho Aoki skillfully adapted these designs for animation.
The premiere is set for April 2024.
Ai Furihata beautifully performs the opening theme song, “Hohoemi Note” (Hohoemi Noto, “Smile Note”).
Crunchyroll has obtained the series’ license.
14. Laid-Back Camp (season 3)
The third season of the Japanese animated television program Laid-Back Camp is an adaptation of the Afro manga series.
The season is brought to life by Eight Bit, with direction from Shin Tosaka and series composition by Masafumi Sugiura.
The production of a third season has already started and was officially confirmed in October 2022.
The staff for the upcoming season at the new animation studio was announced in July 2023, taking over from the team at C-Station, who had previously worked on the first two seasons of the series.
The cast members, including Yumiri Hanamori, Nao Tōyama, Sayuri Hara, Aki Toyosaki, Rie Takahashi, Tomoyo Kurosawa, and Akio Otsuka, were all confirmed to return for the upcoming season. New team members were announced in October 2023.
The third season is set to air in Japan in April 2024.
13. Bōkyaku Battery
Eko Mikawa is the author of the manga series Bkyaku Battery, which is about baseball.
The manga has been serialized through Shueisha’s online manga app, Shōnen Jump+, since April 2018 and has been compiled into seventeen tankōbon volumes as of January 2024.
As a highlight of the Jump Special Anime Festa 2020 online event, MAPPA produced a delightful net animation (ONA) adaptation.
A new anime television series by MAPPA is scheduled to debut in April 2024.
12. Boku no Hero Academia (season 7)
Starting with the 34th volume, Bones will faithfully continue the captivating storyline from the original manga series in the upcoming seventh season of the My Hero Academia anime television series.
The seventh season is scheduled to premiere on ytv and NTV on May 4, 2024, with 4 “Memories” recap specials set to air in the preceding month of April.
Naomi Nakayama has been chosen as the director for the upcoming seventh season.
11. Magilumiere Co. Ltd.
The Japanese manga series Magilumiere Co. Ltd., also known as Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc., is one that Sekka Iwata and Yu Aoki created.
The story is set in a world where being a magical girl is a widely sought-after profession, involving the task of eliminating enigmatic creatures known as Kaii. Kana Sakuragi, a recent college graduate, finds herself in a job-hunting rut.
However, her exceptional memory proves to be a valuable asset when she comes to the aid of Hitomi Koshigaya, a friendly magical girl, in a time of crisis.
Together, they successfully eliminate a dangerous Kaii. Sakuragi is thrilled to have found a place where she can contribute, and she joins Magilumiere, the magical girl startup company where Koshigaya is employed. Magilumiere is made up of a diverse team, including the talented Koshigaya, the eccentric president Kouji Shigemoto, the customer-oriented Kaede Midorikawa, and the skilled magic engineer Kazuo Nikoyama.
Studio Moe and J.C. Staff are planning to launch a brand-new anime television series in October 2024.
10. A Condition Called Love
Megumi Morino is the author of the Japanese manga series, A Condition Called Love. It tells the story of Hananoi-kun and the sickness of love.
The serialization of this manga began in Kodansha’s magazine Dessert in December 2017. As of November 2023, a total of fourteen tankōbon volumes have been released.
East Fish Studio is preparing to release a brand-new anime television series in April 2024.
9. Black Butler: Public School Arc
During Anime Expo 2023, Crunchyroll excitedly revealed that they are currently working on the highly anticipated fourth season.
Kenjirou Okada and CloverWorks will produce the upcoming anime Black Butler: Public School Arc.
Hiroyuki Yoshino will be in charge of the series composition, Yumi Shimizu will handle character design, and Ryo Kawasaki will compose the music.
The series is scheduled to debut in April 2024 on Tokyo MX and other networks.
8. Re: Monster
Re:Monster is a light novel series from Japan, written by Kogitsune Kanekiru and illustrated by Yamaada. The novel was serialized online from May 2011 to 2018 on the user-generated publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō.
AlphaPolis acquired it later and has published a total of nine main volumes, a side story volume, and an extra volume from August 2012 to August 2017.
Since March 2014, readers have been able to access the Haruyoshi Kobayakawa-illustrated manga adaptation through AlphaPolis’ manga website. It has been compiled into ten tankōbon volumes.
Seven Seas Entertainment has a license for the manga in North America.
In July 2018, AlphaPolis released the Re:Monster: Ankoku Tairiku-hen light novel series, which Kanekiru and Naji Yanagida illustrated.
Three volumes have been released to date.
Studio Deen is preparing to release a brand-new anime television series in April 2024.
7. Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf
An exciting anime adaptation was recently announced on February 25, 2022, to celebrate the novel’s 15-year anniversary.
The television series, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, has been confirmed.
Takahashi serves as the chief director, with Passione producing and Hijiri Sanpei directing. Kevin Penkin is composing the music, and Fukuyama and Koshimizu are returning to reprise their roles as Lawrence and Holo, respectively.
The series is scheduled to debut in April 2024 on TV Tokyo and other networks.

6. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, also known as Regarding Reincarnated to Slime, is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah.
On November 9, 2022, the exciting news of a third season was announced.
The show is set to premiere in April 2024 on Nippon TV and its affiliates, including BS11. The staff from the second season and the Visions of Coleus ONA series will be returning to reprise their roles once again.
5. The Duke of Death and His Maid (season 3)
Koharu Inoue’s delightful Japanese romantic comedy manga series The Duke of Death and His Maid is available online. The series was serialized online on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website from October 2017 to May 2022.
The chapters were later compiled into sixteen tankōbon volumes. A delightful anime television series adaptation produced by J.C. Staff aired from July to September 2021.
The second season was broadcast from July 2023 to September 2023. The highly anticipated third and final season is scheduled to debut in April 2024.
4. The Irregular at Magic High School (season 3)
Exciting news! On February 28, 2021, there was an announcement about an upcoming anime adaptation of “Reminiscence Arc.”
The 60-minute television film featured the same main cast and staff from the second season, reprising their roles.
The show was broadcast on December 31, 2021.
The theme song is “Ripe Aster” by Kairi Yagi.
In January 2022, an exciting announcement was made regarding a sequel to the beloved anime series.
Jimmy Stone’s new television show at Eight Bit will debut in April 2024, according to a July 2023 announcement.
The opening theme is “Shouted Serenade” by Lisa.
3. Whisper Me a Love Song
Eku Takeshima wrote and illustrated the Japanese manga Whisper Me a Love Song.
Kodansha Comics has a license to publish it in English and first serialized it in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime April 2019 issue.
In April 2024, a brand-new anime television series adaptation that Cloud Hearts and Yokohama Animation Laboratory are producing will air.
2. 2.5 Dimensional Seduction
Nitengo-jigen no Ririsa, also known as 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, is a manga series that Yu Hashimoto created.
The serialization started on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ website in June 2019.
J.C. Staff is planning to launch a brand-new anime television series in July 2024.
1. Bartender: Glass of God
Bartender is a manga series from Japan, written by Araki Joh and illustrated by Kenji Nagatomo.
The story revolves around Ryū Sasakura, a bartender with exceptional skills in comforting and providing comfort to his customers who are going through difficult times.
The manga was initially serialized in Shueisha’s Japanese seinen magazine Super Jump from 2004 to 2011.
Shueisha compiled the individual chapters and released them in a total of twenty-one tankbon volumes.
Bartender: Glass of God, a brand-new anime television series that Liber is producing, will debut in April 2024.
