Why is Warzone 2 locked?

When it was released in March 2020, right around the start of the pandemic, the original Call of Duty: Warzone was known as one of the most popular battle royales for a while.

Over the past two and a half years, it has amassed a sizable player base, most of whom have stuck with it. However, wit the announcement of Warzone 2.0 as a part of Modern Warfare II, many players are enthusiastic.

This morning, when players log on to their devices, they’ll likely be met with a large update that includes all of MW2’s season 01 features, including Warzone 2. It’s locked for a lot of players, which makes things confusing.

Why is Warzone 2 locked?

Although there have been rumors of players entering Warzone 2 early, the game mode won’t release until today around 12pm CT. It’s likely a bug or mistake, but players should check to see if their account has been unlocked for the game.

A new feature called Shoot House was also leaked early this season, and many players were able to try it out. It was made available this morning.

It seems odd that two different features in the first season of MW2 would both experience this bug. Though this is just a guess, Infinity Ward may be releasing the mode slowly so that the servers don’t get too busy.

Although Warzone 2 will feature a new map called Al Mazrah, it will also feature some of the popular compounds from the MW2 multi player.

What used to be the closing circle on the map that kept players close can now split into different areas that will meet back up at the end of the game.
