PUBG Reveals Huge Number of Cheaters Banned in 2023

Early 3.2 million players in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds were banned in 2023, according to PUBG Studios, the game’s creator.

The news was in a new post that also talked about PUBG’s plans for 2024 and celebrated the game’s seventh birthday.

Cheating has been a persistent issue in PUBG, just like most popular multi player FPS games.

The issue is especially annoying in a game like this one where players play long matches while slowly gathering loot, only to be killed right away by someone using an aimbot, wallhack, or other third-party tool.

Over the years, PUBG has upgraded its anti-cheat system, but like most anti-cheats, it hasn’t been able to keep up with the newest cheats.

This didn’t stop PUBG Studios’ top violators from being banned in large numbers last year, though.

This is a 33% rise from 2022, when almost 2.4 million cheaters were banned by PUBG’s developer.

PUBG Studios says that the better result is due in part to machine learning-based new detection methods.

The developer also concentrated on client flaws and combating violators who found ways to get around hardware bans throughout 2023.

Before it can truly defeat cheaters in the game, PUBG Studios also acknowledged that it has a lot more work ahead of it.

To stay ahead of software that can cheat, it intends to improve current initiatives, like the use of new machine learning technology.

PUBG Cheaters Were Dealt a Big Blow in 2023

  • 3.2 million cheaters were banned
  • This is a 33% increase from last year
  • PUBG’s anti-cheat is using new methods like machine learning

Machine learning anti-cheat tools, according to PUBG Studios, are particularly good at detecting aimbots and ESPs, two of the most common types of cheats.

Another common issue, according to the developer, is that it is working to make it easier to tell who is using a keyboard and mouse on the console.

Additionally, these updates were included in PUBG’s 2024 roadmap, which showed a lot of exciting new features that would be added to the game in the future.

The road map revealed that PUBG will transition to Unreal Engine 5 and add environmental destruction, allowing players to strategically destroy parts of buildings similar to games like Battlefield.

In addition, PUBG intends to release updated versions of old maps in 2024, each with new features or objects that are only available during a particular season or mode, like the 7th Anniversary Erangel map, which will be available on March 13.

Other PUBG additions in 2024 include bi-monthly gun play updates that consistently address balancing issues, a new Team vs. Team system, partnerships with other businesses or franchises, new items, and much more.

With a monthly peak of almost 640,000 Steam players, these additions could help PUBG keep its big following.
