Call of Duty Skin Has Destiny 2 Fans Calling For a Stasis Armor Set

Fans of Destiny 2 are asking Bungie to make some custom cosmetics in a similar vein after a joke post about a recently released Call of Duty skin.

It looks like the new skin in Call of Duty would be a great fit for a set of armor based on the Destiny 2 Stasis subclass.

The main way that most modern live-service games, like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Destiny 2, make money is by selling cosmetic items like skins and accessories.

This is in part cause charging money for things with more direct effects on a player’s experience in play would quickly lead to accusations that a game is pay-to-win, with players able to essentially buy advantages that give them an advantage over their opponents.

The possibility of enjoyable and appealing brand crossovers is also made possible by cosmetics and skins. As part of the crossover trend for years, Call of Duty has announced and released cosmetic packs based on Dune, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and Warhammer.

The skin pack based on the reptilian titan Shimo that Call of Duty received to promote the film was the most popular among Destiny 2 players.

A titan with the power to control ice who is thought to have caused the last Ice Age, Shimo is featured in the film as a major antagonist.

As an apprentice of the game’s big bad, the Skar King, Shimo fights against Godzilla and Kong in some of the most intense battles in the film.

Call of Duty Godzilla x Kong Shimo Skin Inspires Requests for a Destiny 2 Stasis Armor

In a joke, G01berG posted a picture of the Shimo-themed crossover skin that Call of Duty operator Byline wears on the DestinyFashion subreddit and called it “new Stasis-themed Hunter armor.”

In Destiny 2, freezing ice crystals show the power of Stasis, and weapons and exotics that use Stasis often use ice and frozen designs. When you wear the Destiny 2 Cadmus Ridge Lancecap Exotic, your Titan’s face is replaced with a set of creepy, jagged ice crystals.

Byline’s Call of Duty Shimo skin and weapons give them a tactical hood and armor made of shiny white reptile scales with glowing ice crystals all over them.

The “ruse” was quickly discovered by other players, who commented on how well the Shimo skin fits the Stasis subclass in Destiny 2.

Hunters can wear this skin because it has a cloak and hood, which are appropriate for their class. Players also commented that they wished the Shimo skin or something like it would appear in Destiny 2 so that they could use it in their own builds.

While Bungie has sold armor sets based on Light subclasses like Void, Solar, and Arc, neither Stasis nor Strand, the newest subclass in Destiny 2, have yet to get their own themed armor ornament sets.
