Helldivers 2 Has Lost 90 Percent Of Its Players On Steam

Helldivers 2 was only released four months ago (yes, 2024 has been a long time), but the game has already lost approximately 90 percent of its total player base on Steam.

Helldivers 2 has been one of the biggest surprises of the year up to this point, and we are more than half way through the year.

It appeared that no one was particularly interested in the game prior to its release, with the exception of fans of the first entry, but it suddenly went viral and became one of the most successful success stories that PlayStation has ever had.

Helldivers 2 has had a rocky time maintaining its momentum since its initial release, particularly with regard to the Steam team.

We probably don’t need to remind you about the time Sony made PSN sign-ins mandatory and made some countries unable to play the game. Helldivers 2 appears to be losing a little team on… S team, despite the fact that things have improved since then.

Helldivers 2’s performance on S Team has seen a significant drop since its launch, where (according to S Team DB) it managed to reach an impressive peak of 458,709 players, as reported by Forbes.

As of the time of writing, the highest number of players for Helldivers 2 on Steam is approximately 44,938. This is still a respectable number, but it represents a big drop.

Although the cause of this is not entirely clear, it is certain that PlayStation’s handling of the game on personal computers is responsible for at least part of the problem.

Even if PlayStation Network sign-ins were made an option after a lot of review bombing, it is certain that it would have left some players with a bad taste in their mouths.

The fact that there are some interesting things in the works does not change the fact that it appears that some fans have just lost interest right now.

I wouldn’t take these numbers too seriously if they make you worried about the future of Helldivers 2.

It is only natural for this kind of thing to occur when a game stops being the big new hot thing, which Helly D undoubtedly was at the start of 2024.

There are a lot of games that have been released since then, so it was inevitable that it would lose a significant number of its players eventually.

It is also worth noting that these numbers are only representative of the playerbase on the personal computer, which is the secondary console for Helldivers 2; this indicates that the playerbase on the PlayStation 5 is probably much higher.

The amount of community discussion that takes place on a daily basis suggests that there are still a lot of players who are committed to the game. However, we do not have any proof to support this claim.
