There are a few players who are extremely impressed with the Spear of the Impaler in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
This is primarily due to the unbelievable range that it possesses. Spear of the Impaler still has some notable drawbacks that have already discouraged some players from using it for an extended period of time, despite the fact that it offers more benefits than just that.
The critically acclaimed expansion for FromSoftware’s 2022 Souls like expanded the base game with more than one hundred new weapons when it was released on June 21.
As a result of those additions, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree even introduced some new types of weapons; however, a significant number of its armaments also expanded the RPG’s already included classes of weaponry.
One such category is Great Spears, which, after the release of the downloadable content, received four additional weapons, nearly doubling in size.
Shadow of the Erdtree’s Spear of the Impaler Is Devastating Both From Up Close and Far Away
The Spear of the Impaler, which can be obtained by defeating Messmer the Impaler, is the spear that is leading this wave of arrivals.
Since they were able to get their hands on it, a great number of players have been praising it, and this is not the least of the reasons why: the entire range is absolutely ridiculous.
This new Elden Ring DLC weapon not only enables the Tarnished to keep enemies at a reasonable melee distance due to the fact that it is a spear, but it also has a unique charged melee attack that allows the character to throw it like an Olympic athlete.
The spear explodes in flames upon landing, dealing additional area-of-effect damage. This means that even if their ridiculously long throw completely misses the target, the attack still has a chance of doing something for the enemy.
Using nothing but the Spear of the Impaler’s charged heavy attack, YouTuber Boomstick Gaming recently demonstrated some of these abilities in a TikTok video. In the video, they were able to dispatch a variety of enemies from great distances.
During the same time period, numerous other users on social media have lauded the weapon for its adaptability and sheer damage-per-second (DPS) capabilities.
They have pointed out that even its regular heavy attacks can deal approximately 3,000 damage to the tanky enemies that are present in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
With its Ash of War, Messmer’s Assault, it has also impressed a great number of fans. This is primarily due to the fact that it provides a considerable amount of destructive power at a relatively low cost of 15 health points.
Spear of the Impaler Might Be Too Slow To Be Considered Overpowered
Not only does the weapon possess these qualities, but it also possesses a few notable drawbacks that have already had the effect of discouraging some players from using it.
It’s relatively slow, much like every other Great Spear in the game, and it has a big reliance on Fire-type damage, which some enemies can avoid.
Given how quickly the majority of the bosses in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree move, using any slow weapon in the vein of the Spear of the Impaler is extremely challenging to do.
Players are required to essentially learn their entire movesets before they can reliably punish their attacks without getting hit.
