On Friday, Crunchyroll made the English dub of The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Those Awaiting a Star prequel OVA series available in India.
On December 6, Crunchyroll introduced a Hindi dub for the anime.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride OVA explores a tale from Chise’s early years. While fleeing from terrifying creatures, Chise stumbles upon a hidden library nestled in the heart of the forest. There, she encounters a kind librarian who shields her from the menacing monsters lurking outside.
Chise thoroughly enjoys reading the books and is grateful when the librarian kindly lends her a book to take home. Her visits to the library become a regular occurrence, and with each visit, she uncovers fascinating details about the library’s history and the enigmatic owner.
The prequel OVA series of The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Those Awaiting a Star (Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Hoshi Matsu Hito) had a limited two-week run in eight theaters across Japan in August 2016.
The television anime adaptation of the manga debuted in Japan in October 2017.
The majority of the staff from the prequel The Ancient Magus’ Bride anime came back for the first season of the television anime.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride anime was directed by Norihiro Naganuma and he was also responsible for the series scripts at Wit Studio.
Aya Takaha wrote the scripts. Hirotaka Katō skillfully adapted the character designs for animation. Junichi Matsumoto created the music, while Flying Dog worked with BASiLiCA to produce it. JUNNA sang the opening theme song “Here.”
Kore Yamazaki’s original manga series debuted in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade magazine in 2013. Later, the series found a new home in Comic Garden in 2014, and eventually moved to Bushiroad Works’ Comic Growl website in December.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Plot
Yamazaki’s original manga focuses on Chise, a Japanese girl who endures abuse and neglect from her family and ultimately finds herself in a situation of slavery.
Elias, an enigmatic sorcerer, purchases Chise and brings her to his home in England. He informs her that she possesses incredible magical abilities as a Sleigh Beggy, but warns her that she must learn to control her powers to ensure her own survival.
Elias warmly invites her into his home, where he guides her in the art of magic and prepares her for a potential future together.
Meanwhile, Chise embarks on a journey through her enchanting new world, grappling with the enigma that is Elias.
The franchise also includes two additional TV anime seasons and another OVA, along with spinoff manga.
