There are currently a wide variety of skills available for your sims to master, excluding age-specific options.

Wow, that seems like quite a bit, doesn’t it?

Some of them may not be relevant to the average person, as not all of us are building rockets or DJing at the local club, for instance.

It’s always great to see your regular sims mastering new skills!

What Do You Mean By Canning?

Canning is a method used to preserve various types of foods by sealing them in sanitized cans, ensuring that they stay fresh for an extended period of time.

This method is incredibly useful in areas where the availability of food changes depending on the season.

Additionally, it’s a fantastic way to extend the lifespan of food when you have more than you can consume in a reasonable amount of time.

There are a variety of popular canned goods available, such as pickled vegetables, homemade jams, soup stocks, or brined goods like olives or capers.

Ensuring proper sanitation is crucial when it comes to canning. This helps to keep harmful bacteria and other unwanted intruders away from your food.

There are numerous methods available to accomplish this, including boiling, freezing, or drying the food. It’s important to ensure that canned food is properly sanitized to avoid any potential health risks.

As you can see, it’s important to approach this canning skill mod with caution to ensure its usefulness.

The Canning Skill mod is perfectly compatible with other creations by BrazenLotus, allowing for a seamless integration.

In order to utilize this skill or any of their additional modifications, you will need to acquire the Core Crafting mod, which is available for download here.

Core Crafting introduces a variety of fresh elements and interactions to enhance your gaming experience.

  • Brazen Delivery Service – This convenient delivery service allows you to order ingredients for any of Brazen’s recipes through phone or computer. There are several companies available for you to order from, but please note that their operating hours may vary. If you find yourself in a bind, the 24-Hour Grocer is available for your needs, although it may be a bit pricier due to the added convenience.
  • The Brazen Homestead Craftbooks! These books are a collection of crafting mods from Brazen, conveniently accessible in one place. They were cloned from a Cool Kitchen Stuff object, making them a valuable resource for crafters.
  • Exciting New Recipes For Vanilla Objects – You can easily access the craftable items from Brazen’s mods through the Tea Brewer, Coffeemaker, and Fizzing Station, among other relevant objects.
  • Introducing Beginner Nectars – Level 1 Mixology recipes for Red and White Nectar! These delightful concoctions are now conveniently available at bars, ready to be enjoyed on their own or used in various recipes.

Canning Food

Depending on whether or not you have Cottage Living, there are two versions of the Canning Skill mod.

The Cottage Living version seamlessly integrates the in-game canned foods from the EP with the Canning Skill mod, eliminating the need for any special recipes to use it.

If you don’t have Cottage Living and/or you’re looking for more options, there are currently 15 recipes available for use with the skill.

The canning skill mod also offers Canning Skill books that your sim can explore to begin their skill-building journey. You can find them at any bookstore your sim frequents.

Whenever your sim engages in canning, they will be rewarded with 6 jars of preserved goods. In the Cottage Living version of the mod, larger harvestables will produce anywhere from 4 to 12 jars of goods, depending on the size of the initial ingredient.

These goods are versatile and can be used in various recipes or enjoyed on their own to satisfy your hunger.

Condiments such as caramel sauce offer a more modest level of satisfaction compared to substantial meals like tomato soup, adding a touch of authenticity.

Players can enhance the likelihood of producing a higher-quality product by sanitizing their counters beforehand, thanks to a new interaction introduced with the mod. Ingredients are not necessary to complete a recipe, unless you have the Simple Living Lot Trait.

However, the cost of the recipe decreases as your sim already has more ingredients on-hand.

The canning skill has 5 levels, and as you progress in skill, you’ll unlock a greater variety of recipes to enjoy.

When your sims reach their maximum potential, they have the opportunity to sell their canned goods to the local food co-op and benefit from better pricing!

Final Words

Introducing the new Canning Skill mod!

Your sims can now acquire a valuable skill that not only helps their produce last longer and taste better, but also allows them to earn some extra simoleons.

It’s a win-win situation! This feature allows players to enjoy a mechanic from Cottage Living with its own unique skill set, even if they don’t have the EP. Are you considering using the mod for your homesteading sims?
