Persona 3 Reload is Off To a Strong Start on Steam

Persona 3 Reload is off to a great start on Steam, where it broke the series’ record for the most players at the same time on the PC platform. Persona 3 Reload is a remake of the original 2006 JRPG.

It has several quality-of-life improvements, new visuals, and updated mechanics to make it more like Persona 5.

There was a re-release of Persona 3 last year called Persona 3 Portable that was released on multiple platforms. When the remake was announced, it quickly caught the attention of gamers.

As a result, Persona 3 Reload became one of the most-anticipated games of 2024, with longtime fans looking forward to revisiting the series with a new perspective and new fans looking forward to playing the game for the first time.

While previous PC versions of mainline Persona games on Steam did well, Persona 3 Reload manages to get more players at the same time than the last peak for the franchise on Steam.

This is based on a game chart that is stored in SteamDB, a database that has statistics on the most recent games sold on the Steam platform, including concurrent player counts.

Just a few hours after it came out, Persona 3 Reload had over 42,000 players, as this chart shows.

Persona 3 Reload came out right away on all platforms, unlike previous mainline games like Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal, which were either ported to other platforms or made available on PC after being exclusive for a few years. This is likely why the number of sales is so high.

Both Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden had high concurrent player counts when they first came out, despite the fact that they were brought to the S team platform much later than their original release dates.

Persona 3 Reload quickly replaced them. For comparison, when Persona 4 Golden first came out in 2020, it had an all-time peak of almost 30,000 players.

With a peak team count of just over 35,000 players, Persona 5 Royal was brought onto Steam two years later.

Persona Franchise Concurrent Player Peak Records

  1. Persona 3 Reload (42,112 concurrent players)
  2. Persona 5 Royal (35,474 concurrent players)
  3. Persona 4 Golden (29,984 concurrent players)
  4. Persona 5 Strikers (8730 concurrent players)
  5. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (7099 concurrent players)

According to rumors, Atlus isn’t slowing down on Reload, even though it’s already getting a lot of attention. Recently discovered leaks suggest that the post-launch DLC for Persona 3 Reload will include The Answer, a playable epilogue from Persona 3 FES.

According to rumors, Atlus is also hard at work on music and cosmetic packs, which will be released during the company’s fiscal year in 2025.

Aside from this rumor, Persona 3 Reload has also done very well in terms of reviews, with both fans and critics praising the changes made and how the story was improved with the remake.
