When it comes to the muzzle choice, you have two options: the Sound Suppressor or GRU Suppressor.
The GRU Suppressor offers better vertical recoil control, but it does come at the cost of reducing your Effective Damage Range even more than the Sound Suppressor.
Either way, I suggest using a suppressor to stay off the minimap.
With the 9.3″ VDV Reinforced barrel, you’ll enjoy a significant boost of +18% Effective Damage Range and +80% Bullet Velocity.
However, it does come with a slight trade-off of -4% Sprinting Move Speed and -20% Aim Walking Movement Speed.
If that doesn’t sit well with you, the 8.4″ Rifled barrel provides a 25% boost to Effective Damage Range while only slightly reducing Sprinting Move Speed by 5%.

For this loadout, we’ll be using the Perk Greed Wildcard so you can equip up to six perks.
- Perk 1: Flak Jacket & Tactical Mask
- Perk 2: Gear Head & Scavenger
- Perk 3: Ghost & Ninja
For Perk 1, Flak Jacket and Tactical Mask will make you resistant to all Lethal and Tactical Equipment, so you’re ready for any situation.
It would be a good idea to utilize the Scavenger perk to ensure you always have enough ammo,
and Gear Head will come in handy for quickly replenishing and carrying an extra Field Upgrade.
Lastly, Ghost and Ninja will provide you with protection from Spy Planes, Field Mics, and allow you to move silently for strategic flanking maneuvers against the enemy.
How to unlock the AK-74u?
Fortunately, the AK-74u was included in the launch pack for Black Ops: Cold War,
so neither challenges nor a Battle Pass are required to acquire it.
The acquisition of the AK-74u in the Cold War or Warzone requires only reaching Level 19.

Best alternatives
Should you wish to explore alternative loadout classes for the most optimal Cold War AK-74u or have not yet acquired it, there are several commendable options available.
Since its recent buffs, the KSP-45 has become remarkably effective, and the PPSH-41 is difficult to resist.
You could opt for the XM4 if you desire a weapon with a greater range; it has respectable mobility for an assault rifle and emits an absolute laser beam from any distance.
Equipped with these attachments and benefits, you are prepared to dominate every match of Season 4 of Cold War.
