10 years later, The Long Dark could finally be getting a sequel as its developer shares a clip from “an unannounced survival game”

After sharing footage from an unannounced project, the developer of the open-world survival game The Long Dark hinted at a possible sequel.

The Long Dark studio Hinterland’s founder and CEO Raphael van Lierop posted a 22-second long video to Twitter on January 30 with the words “Some good things happening in the Unannounced Survival Games space…” We only have the video to go on, but it looks like the developer might be teasing a sequel to its 2014 survival game, Frosty.

Unreal Engine 5 was used to create the video, which shows what looks like an abandoned house full of old furniture, rugs, and other things. There’s a strong wind sounding in the background as the camera moves from side to side of the room.

What’s interesting is that there’s a map on the wall with Post-it notes stuck to it, a radio on the fireplace, and the word “DAYS” written on the mirror with a long side of a countdown.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t prove that the unannounced game is related to The Long Dark, but it does look like the setting of a survival game set in a very cold climate, which is exactly how you’d describe the other game.

As shown by the responses to the tweet, fans are still excited about whatever Lierop is teasing.

If this is your first time hearing about The Long Dark, it’s a “thoughtful, exploration-survival experience” where players have to stay alive in a frozen wilderness after a geomagnetic disaster.

Being able to play this survival game without facing typical threats like zombies is interesting. Instead, you have to fight against the elements while trying to stay alive in freezing temperatures.
