To move the two wild Snorlax that are sleeping on Routes 12 and 16, you need to talk to them while carrying the Poké Flute.
Then you will have to catch or beat the Snorlax to get it off the Route for good.
Prerequisites (Getting The Poké Flute)
Snorlax can only be moved with the Poké Flute, so the only thing you need is the Poké Flute in your Bag.
To get the Poké Flute, you have to go through a few steps:
- Clear the Rocket Hideout in the Celadon City Game Corner
- Clear Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town
- Talk to Mr. Fuji and receive the Poké Flute
Basically, the Rocket Hideout is where you get the Silph Scope, which you can then use to clear the Pokémon Tower and get the Poké Flute.
If you don’t talk to Mr. Fuji at his house after you beat the Pokémon Tower, you’ll have to go back.
How To Move Snorlax?
After you get the Poké Flute from Mr. Fuji, you’re ready to wake up that Snorlax who’s been sleeping all day. Go to Route 12 or Route 16 and find your goal. Then, do the following:
Step 1: Walk up to the Snorlax that is asleep and press A to talk to it.
Step 2: Say “Yes” to the game when it asks if you want to play the Poké Flute.
Step 3: Defeat or catch the wild Snorlax.
Snorlax will be gone after you beat it or catch it. Snorlax will never come back, but trees will grow back after you leave and come back to the Route.
There are only two Snorlax in the game, so it’s best to catch both of them. This will not only fill up your dex, but it will also let you breed them later in the game.
All Snorlax Locations
In FireRed and LeafGreen, there are only two Snorlax. Snorlax are not found in the wild, so the only way to catch one is to wake it up and put it in a Pokéball.
You’ll probably see your first Snorlax on Route 16, just west of Celadon City. Once you wake up this Snorlax and move it out of the way, you’ll be able to cross Cycling Road and get to Fuchsia City (Safari Zone).
The Route 12 Snorlax is just below Lavender Town. After you clear him, you’ll be able to head to Fuchsia or Vermilion City.
Just follow the docks and you’ll find the Snorlax chilling peacefully and napping. Now’s your chance to wake him up and throw a Pokéball at him!
Where can I find Snorlax?
Snorlax can be found blocking the road on Route 12 in Pokémon FRLG. It is the only Snorlax in the game.
How do I wake up Snorlax?
You need to use the Poké Flute to wake up Snorlax. The Poké Flute is an item that can wake up sleeping Pokémon. You can get the Poké Flute from Mr. Fuji in Cerulean City after you have cleared the Rocket Hideout in Celadon City Game Corner and Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town.
What happens if I defeat Snorlax?
If you defeat Snorlax, you will not be able to get it back. Snorlax is a rare Pokémon, so it is best to avoid defeating it.
Can I catch Snorlax?
Yes, you can catch Snorlax after you have moved it. Snorlax is a level 30 Pokémon, so it is a relatively difficult catch. You will need to weaken it before you can catch it.
