Pokemon Legends: Arceus transports trainers to the ancient area of Hisui, taking them on an unexpected trip through time.
You will have never-ending fun exploring, capturing, and fighting your way throughout these significant territories, with many adventures to encounter and puzzles to solve.
In this game, you can find common, legendary, and mythical Pokemon, but there is also a unique category for the extremely uncommon shiny Pokemon.
These Pokemon are colored differently versions of your typical pocket monsters that, with luck, you may encounter roaming around in the wild.
About Shiny Pokemons
Shiny Pokemon are varieties with different colors that are extremely difficult to discover in the wild.
Originally introduced in the Gold and Silver games, their appearance rate was so low that collecting one was a huge accomplishment to brag about in front of all your friends. It suggested that you were either extremely lucky or inhumanely determined.
Several quality-of-life improvements have made obtaining a shiny Pokemon easier over the years and across multiple generations of Pokemon games.
From breeding Pokemon from other regions to unlocking the valuable Shiny Charm, these improvements make now the best time to obtain these rare Pokemon.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus takes things a step further by introducing multiple outbreaks around the Hisui area constantly.
How To Find Shiny Pokemon In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
The base shiny rate in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is one in 4096, which has been the same since Generation 6.
This means that any particular Pokemon spawn has about a 0.02% chance of being shiny. Shiny Pokemon are still quite rare, but not to the extent that you may expect.
This game sees the return of overworld shinies from the Let’s Go games, which means that a shiny Pokemon will seem shiny before you even encounter it, making it easier to detect one when it spawns.
Furthermore, PLA includes an audio cue for a shiny spawn. It sounds like the “research completed” noise. If you hear it, the best thing to do is save your game and begin seeking it.
Another fantastic PLA feature is saving your game; if you unintentionally knock the shiny out or it escapes, all you have to do is load the save and it will reappear.
Nothing can make a shiny disappear; you can run over the area quickly or even be knocked unconscious. Just don’t go back to Jubilife or go to sleep.
The last significant benefit that PLA offers in terms of the likelihood of finding a shine is sheer quantity.
Although the Let’s Go games had the same overworld features and odds as PLA, the latest game loads many times as many Pokemon.
How Does Pokemon Spawn Work In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
In PLA, things are a little more complicated than in prior games with overworld spawning, like Sword & Shield and Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, where Pokemon would just randomly appear and disappear.
Every time you step into a new region, the game creates a “seed” for it.
This establishes the species, gender, size, and—most importantly—shininess of each Pokemon that will precisely spawn at each spawn place. Still, the seed produces more than just the instant-spawning Pokemon.
Apart from this first group, the seed generates a “queue” of Pokemon that will occupy the available spawning spots as they become available.
There are a few ways to clear out spawning spaces: either wait for Pokemon to naturally despawn, or catch or knock out daylight spawns to make way for ghost-types.
Here’s where going back to Jubilife Village becomes important. You can create a new seed and an entirely new set of Pokemon spawns by going back to Jubilife and then going back to the location you were in.
Therefore, after you’ve finished scanning the region, this is the best approach to obtaining new Pokemon.
How To Boost Shiny Odds In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
You can increase your chances of finding a shiny spawn while hunting by doing a few things in addition to the fact that PLA is a usually easier game to discover shinies in.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ primary goal is to finish the Pokedex. While the game’s conclusion can be unlocked by simply catching a specimen of each species, there are levels on each species’ Pokedex page that can be unlocked through additional research assignments.
A level ten dex page will grant you one more shiny roll for that species, while a perfect one will grant you three extra rolls. Each of these completion levels adds to your shiny odds.
Towards the end of this guide, we’ll be doing all the math, so don’t stress about finding out how everything adds up and compares!
What Are Shiny Hunting Methods In Pokemon Legends: Arceus?
In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there are two primary ways to find shiny objects, one of them isn’t completely functional anymore because of modifications made with the Daybreak update.
As you leave Jubilife Village, groupings of four Pokemon of a particular species known as mass outbreaks occur on the map. More Pokemon will spawn when you catch or kill them until you’ve seen a total of 12–16.
There are a huge 25 extra shiny rolls for mass breakout Pokemon, so if you encounter one for a Pokemon whose shiny you’re interested in, you’re in good because they’re by far your biggest chance of finding a shiny in PLA.
The Daybreak update eliminated the ability to return to an outbreak repeatedly until you found a shiny by saving.
Now, if you attempt to go back to Jubilife while the epidemic is still going on, it will just alter or vanish as you try to exit the game.
All you can do is hope that one of your 12–16 Pokemon is shiny while you’re there and clean out the mass pandemic.
Massive mass breakouts, a bigger sibling of regular mass outbreaks, were first mentioned in the Daybreak update. It spawns a lot of hordes throughout the map—about 15 different hordes in all.
A second horde may develop, which may contain fully evolved versions of the original species or even alphas, after you have finished wiping out the first one by capturing or eliminating every Pokemon in it.
Each of these hordes operates similarly to a typical mass breakout.
