There is a lot for Pokemon players to do in the Paldea area.
Whether you are new to the Pokemon series or a veteran player, you will need to learn a few new things when you enter the world of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
The Terastallizing feature will need a lot of your attention. It’s brand new and pretty complicated, so it will take some time to learn.
This happens a lot in the Pokemon series. Shiny finding and making IVs are two other things that take hours.
To get the right Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet, though, you’ll probably need to change its Tera-Type(Tera Shards).
Here’s how to do that.
How To Get Tera Shards?
As soon as you start your journey in Paldea, you will be able to Terastalize your Pokemon.
Sadly, it’s likely that the Pokemon you catch won’t be the Tera-Type you were hoping for.
Because of this, you will have to change it sooner or later. Tera Shards come into the picture at this point.
It’s possible to get a Tera Shard while gathering items in the wild, but it’s very rare, and you won’t know what you’ll catch until you contact with it. The only way to get Tera Shards is to fight Pokemon that have been turned into Terastals.
You can find Terastalized Pokemon in the wild, and when you beat them, they will drop Tera Shards of their type.
But they can be hard to find, so the best way to start a Tera Raid Battle is to talk to a sparkling crystal or use the Pokemon Portal.
Here is how many Tera Shards you can get per Battle:
|Tera Raid Battle Star Ranking
|Amount of Tera Shards
|One-Star Tera Raid Battle
|Two-Star Tera Raid Battle
|Three-Star Tera Raid Battle
|Four-Star Tera Raid Battle
|Five-Star Tera Raid Battle
|Six-Star Tera Raid Battle

When you fight in Tera Raid battles, you often get different kinds of Tera Shards. All 16 types of Tera Shards can be found in the game.
But what do they do?
Well, you can change a Pokemon’s Tera type by using Tera Shards.
So, if you have a Pikachu with an electric Tera Type but want it to have something more interesting, you can use your Tera Shards to change its Tera Type to something else.
So, when you use Terastalize in a battle, you can change your Pokemon’s type for the rest of the fight.
You have to finish the Normal gym task in Medali before you can use Tera Shards. After you finish this exercise, you can take the Tera Shards to the cook at the Treasure Eatery.
Here, he’ll cook the Tera Shards into a food and give it to the Pokemon you want to change its Tera Type.
To make the dish, you need 50 Tera Shards of a certain type. When you talk to the cook for the first time, he will give you 50 normal Tera Shards so you can change a Pokemon’s Tera Type to normal if you want to.
After that, you’ll have to do a lot of Tera Raid Battles of the type you’re looking for to get the bits you need.
Well, that’s all you need to know about how to use Tera Shards in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
