After eight years, Nintendo’s Super Mario Run has gotten a new update. The main series Super Mario game that fans often forget about when they talk about the franchise is Super Mario Run.
Because it has only ever been available on Android and iOS mobile devices rather than a dedicated Nintendo console, some people don’t even think of it as a real Super Mario game.
Nintendo’s only real attempt to get into mobile gaming is Super Mario Run. Some mobile games are free to play, but Super Mario Run is more traditional; players have to buy the game to play it.
Few negative reviews were found, but overall it got lower scores than most games in the popular platformer series.
Most likely, there are also unannounced Super Mario projects in the works. A rumor says that Nintendo is working on a Switch 2 console that will come out in 2025.
If past Nintendo consoles are any indication, it shouldn’t be hard to find a new main series Super Mario game.
What remains is to decide if the game will be in 3D like Super Mario Odyssey or a 2D adventure like Mario Bros. Wonder or Super Mario Run.
The most recent update for Super Mario Run was at the end of 2023, according to Nintendo Everything. As a way to promote both games at the same time, that update added the Wonder Flower from Super Mario Bros.
Wonder to Funimation. Another crossover between Super Mario Run and another Mario game could be what the event in the patch notes means, but we don’t know for sure.
Many more games will feature the famous plumber, Mario, since Super Mario is Nintendo’s most popular series.
The Princess Peach: Showtime Switch exclusive, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD are just a few of the games that will be released in 2024 that are related to Super Mario.
There are probably also unannounced Super Mario projects in the works. If past Nintendo consoles are any indication, a new main series Super Mario game shouldn’t be hard to find.
