Dragon’s Dogma 2 Will Have An Uncapped Frame Rate, Confirms Capcom

While the trailers, previews, and gameplay footage we’ve seen so far have all led us to believe that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be a fantastic sequel, fans have been thinking about one question for a few weeks.

Last month, it was said that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would only run at 30 frames per second on consoles.

This immediately disappointed fans who had grown accustomed to 60 frames per second games on consoles this generation.

It didn’t seem like those claims were true at the time, and fans were hoping the report was false after seeing a new trailer from PlayStation earlier this month that seemed to show 60fps gameplay.

Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Dragon’s Dogma 2, has finally put fans out of their misery by confirming that the game will not be restricted to 30fps as was previously speculated.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will “release with an uncapped frame rate,” Itsuno revealed this information on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday.

When a fan asked Itsuno if the game would also have an uncapped frame rate on consoles, he simply liked their tweet.

That was pretty much expected for the game’s PC release. It certainly feels like confirmation.

Dragon’s Dogma fans who are playing the sequel on PS5 or Xbox Series X will be happy to hear that, but it looks like Capcom is still going to make its forgettable save system.

It was revealed in the same frame as the rate frame cap rumor that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will only have one save slot, which will be overwritten by autosaves.

It makes playing multiple characters at the same time impossible and may even prevent you from making progress if you unintentionally run into a strong enemy.

I believe fans will have a great game on their hands if a bad save system is the main thing they have to complain about.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will release on March 22 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, in case you forgot.

That’s still a little over a month away, but if you want to learn more about the game before it comes out, you can read our interview with Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi about how the first game’s mechanics have been improved.
