Call of Duty Reveals New Look at Warhammer 40K Crossover Event

Call of Duty has talked more about its upcoming crossover with the Warhammer 40,000 franchise. This comes after weeks of leaks and rumors.

A new series of looks based on the factions and characters of the game are shown in a new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.

There are a lot of new games and adaptations based on the Warhammer 40,000 franchise.

These range from full games like Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader to crossovers in other media like Magic: The Gathering cards and decks.

Games Workshop has been steadily working to make Warhammer 40,000 more popular over the last few years, adding dark, grim elements from the far future to a wide range of other media.

Call of Duty Shows Off Space Marines and Warhammer 40,000 Cosmetics

The most recent game to be affected by the Imperium is Call of Duty. After Activision confirmed several Call of Duty crossover packs earlier, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will be able to dress up as Space Marines and other Warhammer 40,000 characters.

It includes new looks for characters, weapons, and moves like takedowns. A new trailer shows the cosmetics in action.

To start the trailer, characters from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are framed in a “tilt shift” style that makes them look like old-school Warhammer 40,000 miniatures.

As they move, the figures show off costumes from three main Imperium groups: the Adepta Sororitas, or Sisters of Battle, the Astra Militarum, or Imperial Guard, soldiers, and the Space Marines of the Adeptus Astartes.

Additionally, the trailer shows specific looks, with costumes and weapon modifications that call to mind certain groups in the Warhammer 40,000 story.

Space Marine-themed cosmetics have armor from the Ultramarines and Blood Angels chapters.

For example, the Juggernaut Skins almost exactly look like Primaris Space Marines wearing their power armor.

The Soulrender sword can be customized to look like an Astartes Chainsword with skin, and the Astra Militarum skins let you feel like you’re wearing the old Cadian Guard uniforms.

The thought of a Warhammer 40,000 crossover bringing the grim darkness of the far future (where there is only war) to Call of Duty’s grim darkness of the present day (where there is also only war) is somewhat out of character with Call of Duty’s modern military aesthetic sense, but it works.

The thought of car soldiers fighting against the fictitious warriors of the year 40,000 may well appeal to fans of both.
