Players who are nearing the Heavensward zone in Final Fantasy XIV can begin gaining access to new professions.

The Machinist is one of these characters because of his or her ability to deal massive damage from a distance.

All of Heavensward and the Machinist job are now available in-game for all player accounts to coincide with the launch of Final Fantasy XIV’s unlimited free trial.

Though it shares many similarities with the well-established Bard job, the Machinist places a greater focus on the player’s own performance than on the success of the group as a whole and is hence often regarded as Final Fantasy XIV’s strongest ranged damage dealer.

The amount of free material added to Final Fantasy XIV has caused significant strain on the game’s infrastructure.

Because of their reliance on the combo of Heat Blast and Gauss Round, Machinists are particularly vulnerable to this issue because of the slow server pings it causes.

Even so, Square Enix plans to fix this in the near future. For the time being, most of the Machinist’s frenetic, long-range action should still be playable.

In Final Fantasy XIV, the Machinist profession is not one of those offered by any of the three major guilds. The Machinist guild is located in Ishgard, a town that is initially inaccessible to outsiders.

In the meanwhile, players will need to switch to another profession, such as Bard, to move the main story along.

Starting as a Bard, Machinist, or Dancer makes it easier to repurpose old armor because of their shared focus on dexterity.

After entering the main part of Heavensward, players will be able to visit the Skysteel Manufactory in Ishgard, the Machinist stronghold.

Becoming A Machinist In Final Fantasy XIV

Following the completion of “A Realm Reborn” (containing all five story patches), players will be able to begin Heavensward and gain access to the Machinist job in Final Fantasy XIV.

As such, Final Fantasy XIV players will need to have attained level 50 in either the Disciple of War or the Disciple of Magic profession.

To begin the level 50 quest “Savior of Skysteel,” players should visit Foundation in the new Ishgard hub city (x: 8, y: 10).

This mission not only grants the job at level 30, but it also rewards the player with a Steel-barreled Carbine, a Toadskin Jacket, and a Brais made from Toad skin.

Although it was never strictly necessary, players of Heavensward were advised to max up their Archer and Lancer levels in order to make full advantage of their Machinist’s cross-class abilities.

While this was once necessary for top performance in the role, with the advent of Stormblood, it is no longer the case. Machinist role actions are now simply earned by leveling up to 32 and are always accessible, rather than requiring ability slots.

Shadowbringers’ inter-class abilities are not always directly equivalent to their present job abilities.

At level 52, players can acquire Tactician from Stephanivien in exchange for the old defense skill Palisade, allowing for a more supporting playstyle.

Many of them were released alongside Stormblood, while others were part of Shadowbringers and will most likely be relevant to the upcoming Endwalker expansion for Final Fantasy XIV.

All players, both new and old, are eligible for these bonuses. Those who met the criteria before Heavensward’s release will not be rewarded retroactively.

Junior Machinist Coffer

With the release of Stormblood, a new set, Junior Machinist, became available. The Power of a Tourney” is a level 50 quest given by Stephani vien.

Given that Square Enix could not include Machinists in “A Realm Reborn,” they did not provide them their own variant of the Antique armor that the other starting vocations had.

The Junior Machinist’s gear consists of nothing more than a level 90 set of Saurian of Aiming armor. This means that the set is suitable for usage by both Bards and Dancers.

Machinist Coffer

In the past, the Machinist set was the most powerful equipment you could purchase using Tomestones of Esoterics. Instead of paying for it, Stormblood now gives you this gear for free.

To obtain this achievement, players must turn in their completed “Rise of the Machinists” quest to Stephanivien at level 60.

Gunner’s Coffer

The Gunner’s Coffer set, the final free addition to Stormblood will aid adventurers on their trek to Shadowbringers.

You can get this chest of armor from Hilda at the Foundation after finishing the level 70 quest “The Mongrel and the Knight” (x: 11.4, y: 12).

In Final Fantasy XIV, Machinists are a class that is often compared to Bards but stands apart due to their special powers.

A Machinist’s area-of-effect (AoE) skills boost the speed with which allies may move and reduce the damage they take from foes.

When playing the Machinist, it’s important to focus on dealing damage through the use of skills and auto-attacks.

It’s also possible to strengthen one’s hand by investing in the Wildfire and Reassemble skills. Wildfire boosts the damage done by all weapon talents, while Reassemble amplifies the next ability used.

A Machinist’s employment of turrets suggests that they make good use of the Hypercharge ability.

Increases in Battery and Heat Gauge points are available to players. Heat gauge activation enables Hypercharge, whereas battery gauge activation activates turrets.

Any player who finds themselves loving the Machinist’s mechanics may also find the Dancer job in Shadowbringers to be a lot of fun.

The Reaper and the Sage are two new combat jobs in Endwalker, and their varying play styles may or may not appeal to different Machinist players.

Available now for PC, PS4, and PS5 are the expansion packs Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
