The absence of the Triforce in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has left many long-time fans of the series puzzled. Tears of the Kingdom is one of Nintendo’s biggest hits and a fitting sequel to Breath of the Wild.
Even in Nintendo’s own words followers should be able to look forward to open-world Zelda games as the new standard for the series which sets the new games apart from all the previous games in the series.
But non-traditional Zelda gameplay alterations are not the only giant switch in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom because both games are entirely different experiences compared to previous Zelda games in terms of storytelling.
Notably absent from both titles were the Trifortes.
Revolutionizing the Backstory of Legend of Zelda
While Rutoons relates to the mythos of the Triforce, which has been previously followed in Majora’s Mask, Tears of the Kingdom brings into focus sub-elements such as Zonai technology and primordial powers.
This may mean that Nintendo needs new concepts and ideas for the storyline since the later installments in this series revolve around the Triforce.
1. Focus on Zonai Technology
Again it relates to the game plot as a brand new Ancient race within the world of LoZ known as the Zonai, keepers of technology.
This technological wonder becomes part of the play and the plot of the game, and seems to usurp even mythical edifices such as the Triforce.
The developers might be hinting at wanting to further look into some of the tech concepts while expanding the world of Hyrule.
2. Complication of New Powers and Abilities
As readers know from Tears of the Kingdom, figure Link gets several new abilities from Zonai items and other magic.
What may be inferred by the absence of the Triforce is that the game is considering expanding the areas that magic can stretch to and from, as represented by the Triforce of Power.
3. The Role of the Master Sword
Another important part of the game is the Master Sword, in the series is designated constant ‘partner’ of the Triforce. In Tears of Kingdom, the sword is featured as a key item in the plot throughout, without emphasizing trifecta force making it to be unique because of its magical ability.
This may just be a further dissection of the lore in Hyrule beyond the Triforce Standard or the creation of a new narrative around it.
4. Cultural Prose-Emancipation from the Triforce
This may not be missing as the attempt to establish Tears of the Kingdom should gain strength from its plot alone. New legends, powers, and conflicts add to the creation of a new story while the greater framework of Zelda remains unaffected.
The change might be one for the future that could mean that Nintendo is planning on expanding the series mythos.
Possible idea of Triforce in upcoming Zelda Games
It may seem that After Trail has no relation with the Triforce at all but it doesn’t make the existence of the artifact final in the Zelda series.
Nintendo has always been good at revitalizing ideas already rooted in Zelda mythos and though Triforce might make some grand comeback later on, it may be an important item in a different degree.
