Based on a Japanese manga composed by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu, “The Promised Neverland” is a dystopian horror anime series.

It is a tale in the midst of a lengthy and devastating conflict between demons and humans that ended with an agreement to divide their worlds.

A few humans were left behind so that their descendants could be used as food for demons. The show commences in 2045, which is about 1,000 years after the signing of the treaty.

The demons have constructed farms to collect human children for their feast with the human families’ assistance.

On a farm of this kind, Grace Field, Norman, Ray, and Emma find out the truth and then escape along with their brothers and sisters.

The first season was a hit from January 10th, 2019 through March 29th, 2019. The show received a lot of praise from critics and was renewed for its second season.

The first time Season 2 aired, the reception was generally negative. If you’re wondering whether “The Promised Neverland” will get a season 3, this is what we are aware of.

The Promised Neverland Season 3 Details

The second season of “The Promised Neverland 2” debuted on the 8th of January, 2021, and was aired for 11 episodes (and an extra) before wrapping up on the 26th of March, 2021.

CloverWorks Studios created the show with Mamoru Kanbe as the director and Kaiu Shirai acting as the principal writer.

As for Season 3, it is unlikely to happen, since Season 2 already covered the manga, including the last episodes of season 2’s finale, displaying scenes from the last chapter of the manga.

The show’s producers reduced the manga’s 144 chapters (15 volumes) into 11 episodes from season 2. Often, they skipped important arcs like the Goldy Pond Battle.

The second season, as you would expect, was incoherent and difficult to follow, particularly for viewers who aren’t familiar with the manga. Even manga fans, according to reports, did not fare much better when it came to the introduction of some new elements that fill in the plot gaps caused by the omissions.

The incredibly creative choices made in season 2 make even more sense when you consider the fact that Shirai played a role in them.

In the season two finale, various story arcs are discussed in a slideshow. The viewers were clearly unhappy and posted on social media to express their anger.

“The Promised Neverland” season 1 is among the most well-loved and well-received series of the past few years. The drastic decline in quality of the show between both seasons is unique in the history of anime.

A tentative analogy can be drawn between shows such as “Sword Art Online” and “Tokyo Ghoul.”

Based on all of this, the best method of creating future anime content within the “The Promised Neverland” universe might go through an actual remake in the same way as “Sailor Moon,” “Fullmetal Alchemist,” “Fruits Basket,” or CloverWorks’ own “Horimiya.”

Animation films made based upon the original material could also be made. Many mangas are independent single-shots.

They can be used as inspiration for future ideas. Shirai and Demizu may choose to revisit their universe and develop a sequel series that could result in the creation of a sequel anime series.
