Scrapped Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 After-Credits Scene Discovered 13 Years Later

Nearly 13 years after the game’s initial release, a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 after-credits scene has been discovered. The short clip shows that the people who worked on Modern Warfare 3 originally planned an even darker ending.

Just before the 2011 game ended, Captain John Price and Yuri found Makarov in a hotel in Dubai. They attack the facility and catch the famous FPS bad guy after Price crashes his helicopter on the roof of the building while trying to escape.

Then Makarov comes out of the wreckage with a gun and gets ready to kill Price, but Yuri shoots him. In response, he kills Yuri, but Price got a jump on him and hung him with a steel cable after he crashed through the hotel’s glass ceiling while he was distracted.

Before the end credits, Price crawls across the broken glass and lights a cigar while looking at Makarov’s body.

Deleted Modern Warfare 3 Scene Shows Price Dying at the End

This means that the game makes it seem like Price survived the attack on the hotel, but Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games may not have had that in mind at first.

This is what a new scene from after the credits says, found by Call of Duty modder Vlad Loktionov. The fifty-second video seems to take place soon after the ending scene because it shows a mysterious man in a suit who is partially obscured looking at the spot where Makarov was hung.

As the shadowy figure turns around and walks away, Price’s vision blurs, and he drops his head and cigar, stopping moving. A photo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Operation Kingfish team is then shown after the scene fades to black.

Many Call of Duty fans were shocked by the scene because they had never thought that Price would be on his deathbed at the end of the game.

In fact, the fact that he lit a cigar after the final fight showed that his wounds weren’t so bad that they could have killed him.

The fact that the Operation Kingfish photo is shown right after that seems to emphasise Price’s death, since all of the team members in the picture are also dead by that point in the story.

Captain Price’s Death Isn’t Canon

It cannot be considered red canon, though, because this scene was not included. After all, Price is explicitly stated to have survived the events of the 2011 game in both Call of Duty: Heroes and Call of Duty: Mobile.

There are a lot of sad deaths in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, so the game is already pretty dark. Many fans have thought that the shadowy figure seen in the scene after the credits could be anyone from Imran Zakhaev who came back to life by some miracle to the Grim Reaper himself.
