During the most recent Nintendo Direct, Koei Tecmo made the announcement that Fairy Tail 2 will be a direct sequel to the turn-based role-playing game Fairy Tail beginning in the year 2020.
The turn-based gameplay mechanics have been removed from Fairy Tail 2, and the game has been transformed into an action-RPG that is comparable to the mobile game Fairy Tail: Fierce Fight.
Among the many shounen manga, Fairy Tail is one of the most well-known. There have been previous attempts by the series to enter the gaming industry; however, the majority of its games have remained on the Japanese market.
This changed in the year 2020, when Koei Tecmo and Gust released the turn-based role-playing game Fairy Tail for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and personal computers.
A significant portion of the series’ final arcs, such as Tenrou Island, Grand Magic Games, Tartaros, and Avatar, were adapted for the first game, which also introduced new elements that were never seen in the manga and were created by Hiro Mashima, the author of the series.
The gameplay of Fairy Tail 2 will be different from that of the first game, but it will pick up where the first game left off. The Alvarez arc, which is the seventeenth and final story saga, will be adapted into the storyline of Fairy Tail.
Fans will face antagonists like Zeref and Acnologia, the black dragon, as well as all of the Spriggan 12. Turn-based battles have been replaced with real-time action-RPG mechanics in Fairy Tail 2, which is a significant change to the game’s gameplay.
The trailer demonstrates that players won’t be limited to using Natsu and Lucy all the time and can now put together a party with a variety of mages from the Fairy Tail guild.
Fairy Tail 2 Announced at Nintendo Direct
The demonstration of Link Attacks was one of the highlights of the combat. It is possible for members of the party to use their spells in conjunction with one another to unleash sequential attacks, which in turn unleashes new effects.
In the Fairy Tail 2 trailer, Laxus engages in a Link Attack with Mirajane. During this attack, the electric mage’s magic paralyses Laxus, while Mirajane’s magic grants Laxus a speed boost.
Another impressive pairing that is displayed in the video is that of the battle-wizard Erza Scarlet and Wendy, who is a user of Sky Dragon Slayer Magic.
Fairy Tail 2 is a retelling of the final story arc of the original manga, which came to an end in 2017.
An ongoing sequel to Fairy Tail, titled Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, was released by the game’s creator, Hiro Mashima, in the year 2018.
It is currently unknown whether Fairy Tail 2 will include new scenes or story lines, or even introduce content that has never been seen before, like magic spells for Unison Raids, which are fusions of two different types of magic to form an entirely new one.
This winter, Fairy Tail 2 will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and the personal computer through Steam.
This indicates that it may be released by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. Throughout the course of the year, Koei Tecmo will continue to provide fans with updates, which they can eagerly anticipate.
