Are you trying to find the desired Blue Axolotl in Minecraft?
You can learn everything you need to know from this manual.
Axolotls were a popular addition to Minecraft in version 1.17 thanks to their adorable appearance and amiable behaviour.
Due to their appealing ability to aid players in battling underwater hordes of enemies, these brave amphibians instantly became recognisable in the game after their introduction.
Axolotls can be discovered in the depths of the game in a variety of colours, including cyan, brown, pink, and yellow.
There is a fifth variety though, it is the blue or purple axolotl, depending on who you ask.
It is so uncommon that it is practically mythological.
It’s not easy to get your hands on one, but this tutorial will show you the easiest way to acquire a special aquatic ally.
The Basics
Blue Axolotls cannot naturally spawn; breeding is the only way to produce them.
There is about 1 in 1,200 chance that the offspring of two Axolotls will be blue.
1,200 is the estimated number of actual Axolotls left in the wild, so this number wasn’t chosen at random.
It’s a subtle approach to draw attention to a sadly endangered species.
The blue colour, which is the only one of the Axolotl that isn’t based on real-life and instead draws inspiration from Mudkip from Pokemon, wasn’t chosen at random either.
If a baby isn’t blue, it will most likely be the opposite colour of one of the parents.
There must be a lot of breeding done if you want to have a blue Axolotl.
You’ll need two buckets of tropical fish to breed two axelotls.
The fish will be lost when fed to the axelotls, but you’ll still have buckets of water, allowing you to catch additional fish right away.
Acquiring the Axolotls
Breeding a large number of Axololts sounds great in theory, but in practice it may be a time-consuming and messy task.
To make sure everything runs successfully, we’ll walk you through everything you need to accomplish.
The first stage is to obtain the Axolotls you’ll be utilising for breeding, and depending on the game version you’re playing, where you go to achieve this.
As long as the light level is zero, the block below the spawning spot is made of stone, deepslate, andesite, diorite, granite, or tuff, axelotls will spawn in any water below Y-level 63 in version 1.17 of Minecraft.
This implies that you can discover them in oceans and pools in caverns, respectively, so you shouldn’t have any trouble getting started.
You can carry them in your inventory if you pick them up in a bucket of water.
Axolotls only spawn in water in the lush caverns biome in versions of Minecraft after 1.18, and the block directly beneath the spawning spot must be clay.
This makes them a little difficult to locate, but once you find the lush caverns biome, you’ll be able to pick up some Axolotls because there are many pools in there.
Starting The Breeding Process
Once you have a few Axolotls, you should head to a warm or lukewarm ocean biome.
If you don’t have access to the F3 screen, the water’s colour serves as a reliable indicator because warm ocean water is notably lighter than regular water.
Because tropical fish spawn in these biomes, choosing this location is the greatest method to guarantee a steady supply of food for breeding.
Tropical fish can now also spawn in lush caves as of version 1.18, however, oceans are still the greatest option because they contain the most water for fish to spawn in.
It’s important to keep in mind that with version 1.17, fish can spawn at any elevation.
As a result, it may be a good idea to build your breeding set up high in the air with a tank for spawning fish because doing so will allocate the majority of the mob cap to fish spawns nearby.
Fish only spawn below sea level starting with version 1.18, so you’ll have to do your work on the ground.
However, you should still have a good supply of fish to work with.
Create a breeding pool for your axolotls, remove them from the buckets, and begin mating.
Since they swiftly multiply and give you more and more breeding stock, you only need two to get started.
Keep water buckets in stock, and anytime you run out, replenish with tropical fish.
Pool Designs
The pool can be built in a few different ways.
Something wide and shallow that is quick to fill up or even just build into an ocean can be the answer.
Axolotls will approach you when they notice the fish bucket in your hand, therefore size is also unimportant.
Axolotls can also be split up into pairs and kept in their own individual pools; the babies can then be removed and moved if you’d like a cleaner alternative.
This approach may take a little longer than the first, but it maintains everything organised, making it far less likely that you would overlook the blue Axolotl amid a crowd.
The fundamentals of your pool apply regardless of its shape: it should only be one block deep (anything deeper only gives the Axolotls more room to swim down and makes them harder to reach), and it should be made entirely of source blocks.
Make sure there isn’t any flowing water because it will push Axolotls about and make things much more challenging than they need to be.
Axolotls don’t like to linger out on land, but they will pathfinder to other water, like other pools or the ocean, which can result in their getting out, therefore build the walls up a block above the water to prevent them from doing so.
Getting The Blue Axolotl
If you do enough breeding, you’ll get your own ultra-rare blue companion.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a simple fix to increase your chances; all you can do is breed Axoltols as quickly and frequently as you can.
Patience is actually the key because chance events like this could result in you getting it inside five axelotls or going over double the typical 1,200.
It’s worthwhile to obtain one in the end, regardless of how long it takes.
In Minecraft, finding something so uncommon is a valued accomplishment, and you may brag about it to your new acquaintance wherever you go.
Axolotls don’t despawn if they’ve ever been in a bucket, so if you pick it up for the first time, you’ll be sorted forever, so you don’t need to worry about it despawning.
If you’re really worried, though, you can give it a name tag because doing so will stop any mob from respawning and will make it easy to identify your unique new friend.
