When Metaphor: ReFantazio takes the stage at the Summer Game Fest on June 7, Atlus fans are in for a special treat. Fans are eager to learn more about Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus’s anticipated JRPG, which has been in the works for some time.
Summer Game Fest is always a big deal, especially since E3 has been doing poorly lately. With reveals, trailers, and hands-on experiences with upcoming games and expansions, Summer Game Fest has replaced E3 as one of the biggest gaming summer events.
Now, at the summer time show, Metaphor: ReFantazio will get the same treatment. Metaphor: ReFantazio’s Director, Katsura Hashino, and Artist, Shigenori Soejima, will give a talk about the upcoming JRPG on June 7.
There isn’t much information available about what will be shown, but fans can probably expect a new teaser and learn something about how the title was made.
The Game Awards of 2023, hosted by Geoff Keighley, the same person who will be in charge of the upcoming Summer Game Fest, featured one of Metaphor: ReFantazio’s final major reveals.
Metaphor: ReFantazio has been compared to Atlus’s powerhouse Persona, with Persona 5, the most recent main entry in the series, taking the franchise to new heights.
As the tenth anniversary of Persona 5 draws near, many fans are wondering when they’ll see Personala 6. There isn’t much information available about the next game in that series, but Metaphor: ReFantazio may help fans pass the time since it has many of the same features and game mechanics.
Similarities and Differences Between Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona
Playing Metaphor: ReFantazio has some similarities to Persona 5, but there are also some differences between the two titles. Metaphor: ReFantazio takes place in a fantasy land called the United Kingdom of Euchronia that is referred to as a “mirror” of the real world. Players will take control of the main character, who, unlike Persona’s main characters, will be fully voiced.
A series of companions will be added to them over time who will help them in turn-based battles and who can also become close to the main character as the story progresses.
Summer Game Fest will start at 2 p.m. PT, but it hasn’t been confirmed what time Atlus will take the stage.
The Persona series is unlikely to have anything new revealed during the event, but gamers can expect to see a wide range of games in detail, many of which will likely launch in the second half of 2024.
