Based on a Japanese Shounen manga series by Hiroki Adachi (under the penname Hero), and illustrated by Daisuke Hakiwara.
“Horimiya” is a slice-of-life romance anime series featuring two characters: Kyoko Hori, who is popular and competent, and Izumi Miyamura, who is quiet and reclusive and a bit of an airhead.
Izumi and Kyoko discover that their true selves are being hidden from their classmates.
Kyoko is a homebody and can be very aggressive depending on the situation. Izumi, however, is a gentle-mannered punk with many tattoos and other piercings.
Despite their differences, they find common ground in the secrets that they share. They fall in love, naturally.
The anime has been a fan favorite since its debut. It is known for its sharp animation, development of major characters, and fast-paced, immersive plot.
Many of you will want to know the status of Horimiya’s Season 2. This is what we were able to discover.
Horimiya Season 2 Release Date
The first season of ‘Horimiya’ aired on January 10, 2021. It lasted 13 episodes and ended on April 4, 2021.
CloverWorks Studios produced the anime. Masashi Ishihama was the director, and Takao Yoshioka was the writer.
Masaru Yoshioka provided the music, and Haruko Iizuka created the characters. You Kamiyama sang the opening theme, “Color Perfume” (Iro Kusui), while Friends sang “Promise” (Yakusoku) as the closing theme.
The producers have not yet made an official statement about “Horimiya 2″. Unlike romance animes, “Horimiya” doesn’t dwell on the overused trope of “will they, won’t they?”
Izumi admits his feelings to Kyoko and they begin dating in the next episode.
Although the anime does not faithfully emulate the manga’s pace, this is one of the many reasons why “Horimiya” is such a pleasant watch. It also allows the show to read its source material much faster than traditional anime adaptations.
The TV anime “Horimiya” has caught up to the manga series. Chapter 122 was published in March 2021. This episode is a rewrite of the 122nd chapter. It depicts the graduation day of Katagiri Senior School students.
The anime skipped several chapters from the original manga series. A few of these were covered in the short slideshow montage that was shown at the end of the credits. All this being said, it is unlikely that there will be another “Horimiya” season 2.
Even though there will not be a new season of the anime, fans can still look forward to other “Horimiya” content. Talent agency Horipro announced that they were working on a TV version of the manga.
For a week, the first three episodes were released in select theatres on February 5, 2021. The TV series aired its full length on February 17, 2021, on MBS’s Dramatism programming block and TBS in Japan.
HERO initially developed the story under the title ‘Hori–san to Miyamura–kun’.
The story has been adapted into a 6-episode OVA series (original video animation). Three OVAs have been released since then, including the premiere of the first OVA on October 5, 2012.
The 5th OVA and 6th OVA, entitled ‘Hori, Miyamura, Midsummer Day, and ‘Hori, Miyamura, A Kind Person’, respectively, will be released in May 2021.
