FFXIV: What Happened To Alphinaud’s Sister (Alisaie)?

Alphinaud and Alisaie Leveilleur are twins who play a significant role in Final Fantasy XIV‘s plot. Though Alphinaud begins to be relied upon, Alisaie mysteriously vanishes for a long time.

There is a rationale behind Alisaie’s absence. While the Binding Coil of Bahamut plotline is optional, she is still a part of the overarching story.

Therefore, if you’re just powering through the Main Scenario Quests, it can feel like Alisaie vanishes (which is understandable, there are a lot of them).

Alisaie has a pivotal role in the Bahamut raid novels.

The majority of raid encounters in FFXIV are completely voluntary, yet she is the main force behind that storyline. In XIV, you have to actively seek out new material, unlike in most games where it becomes available to you as you level up.

Story quests will build up the lore and the motivation for eight players to break into a location and kick ass in the lead-up to a raid.

Over the course of these adventures, we often grow close to a few non-playable characters (NPCs); for example, consider the pivotal role played by a specific cat in the Crystal Tower series.

Yes, Alisaie can occasionally be encountered before reaching level 50. And for a brief period, she is able to spend time with the Warrior of Light. But she and her allies don’t really start to shine until much later in the Main Scenario.

This can be a little strange to new players because the main story couldn’t really reference The Binding Coil all that much (since it’s optional).

Why Is ‘The Binding Coil Of Bahamut Optional If It Explains Where Alisaie Is?

This is usually the case because a sizable portion of the player community has no intention of ever completing a raid.

There would be a lot of roadblocks for the casual user if 8-player multi-instance content that needs higher tactics and gear was required to advance the tale.

Even if you wish to beat Coil with your level synchronized, it won’t be that difficult of a task these days.

Most bosses can be easily wiped out by a party of three to four players between levels 70 and 80.

Alphinaud’s Sister

As a result, you won’t have to worry too much while enjoying Alisaie’s story (which includes a nice resolution to one of the game’s larger loose ends).

You might also check it out on YouTube. Indeed, that is a viable alternative.

However, there is a new type of excitement to be gained in exploring forgotten raids with extremely powerful heroes.

To put it clearly, it is simpler to simply have Alisaie’s absence hand-waved away than to force a large portion of XIV’s players to engage in stuff they don’t want to.

However, the aforementioned Alliance Raid, Crystal Tower, has a minimum player requirement of 24.

It used to be optional as well, but the storyline is crucial to the Shadowbringers expansion, therefore it was made required before the end of 2017.

Where Is Alisaie Now?

There would be major spoilers for Shadowbringers/Endwalker if we answered this question.

Suffice it to say, though, that she has undergone excellently typical character growth and grown considerably as an ally.

My preference for her company in the game has never wavered, even when compared to Alphinaud (who has also improved greatly). She is the polar opposite of her brother in every way but in the best way possible.

Where Do I Unlock The Binding Coil Of Bahamut?

There is a larger raid known as The Coils of Bahamut, of which The Binding Coil of Bahamut is the first part.

To begin, you must be Level 50 and have cleared Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan on Hard difficulty.

As the primary plot unfolds, this will happen organically.

If you meet all of these requirements, then you should pray, go back to the Waking Sands (I’m sorry!), and talk to Urianger to begin the “Primal Awakening” quest.

What Alisaie did while you were waiting for her return will become clear.

You can wait in line for it in the Duty Finder, but it doesn’t appear in any of the roulettes, so you might have to wait days before you get to the celebration.

To fully appreciate the plot, it’s best to have at least a couple of similarly skilled companions to help you along the way. It might be tough to get a real run going if that doesn’t happen. Have fun!
