FFXIV: What Is The Gold Saucer & Its Location?

In Final Fantasy XIV, the Gold Saucer is a busy casino and game center full of mini-games, lotteries, and expensive rewards for players who are brave enough to roll the dice.

You’ll be able to get there after finishing a side quest, but you can’t walk there.

You’ll have to take an airship or teleport there.

You’ll need to get the quest “It Could Happen to You” from the Well-Heeled Youth NPC in Ul’dah’s Steps of Nald before you can get into the Gold Saucer.

It looks like the Youth has gotten lucky, and he wants to share it with you.

You will get a Golden Airship Ticket from him, which you can use to go to the Saucer for the first time.

What Can You Do In the Gold Saucer?

Get ready for a big night out by taking off your dirty boots and putting on your fanciest outfit.

You don’t have to save the world from evil forces to go through Eorzea (okay, it is mostly about that).

But you also need to have fun the old-fashioned way once in a while!

The Manderville Gold Saucer is full of challenges and chances, giving players a break from grinding quests and beating bosses.

There are a few short side quests that will show you around the Gold Saucer and give you a taste of the fun you can have there.

This place has everything: card games, sideshows at a carnival, fashion contests, and Chocobo races.

Regularly, events will be held in the plaza, and dozens of players will usually show up.

Manderville Gold Saucer Points, often shortened to MGP, are given out when you finish games and take part in events.

MGP can be used to buy things like hairstyles, mounts, and special items that add to your glamour.

Even Fenrir, the huge, almost mythical wolf that players fight in the Snowcloak dungeon after ARR, can be bought as a mount for a hefty 1,000,000 MGP.

Since the big ones take a long time to get, Gold Saucer rewards can be like the ultimate status symbols in XIV.

Just make sure to attune to the aetheryte before you leave so you can teleport back easily.

You can also take an airship to the Gold Saucer from any of the three starting cities, or Ishgard in Heavensward once you’ve gotten far enough in the main story.

Best Activities

The answer to this question is going to be pretty subjective, so it will be a little strange.

It depends on whether or not you want to have fun or just make money.

When it comes to making money, completing GATEs (Gold Saucer Active Time Events) is probably the most fun and profitable thing to do.

There are three of these events every hour.

In particular, they happen on the hour, twenty minutes after the hour, and forty minutes after the hour.

And the GATEs are very different from each other.

Most people play Leap of Faith, which has a lot of different map layouts that make it a different challenge every time.

These are platforming challenges, and a lot of people are trying to get to the end while collecting Cactuar trophies for extra MGP.

Air Force One is my favourite.

It’s a shooter where you fly through the Gold Saucer and try to hit as many targets as possible to earn MGP.

Some GATEs require skill, smart deduction, or just plain dumb luck.

They are a wide range of fun distractions that are a little different from the usual FFXIV experience.

You can also get a fair amount of MGP every week if you do the weekly Fashion Report.

The FFXIV Fashion Report

Every Tuesday, the report will have a different theme.

And you’ll have to put together an outfit that fits the theme the best.

You will get 10,000 MGP just for taking part in the Fashion Report.

But if you get an 80 or higher, you get 50,000 MGP.

Surprisingly, it’s not hard at all to get that score.

This Twitter account is a helpful tool for the Fashion Report, and you can also work with other players and share information with them.

But if you don’t like GATEs or just need something to do in the twenty minutes between them, the Gold Saucer has a lot of other games and entertainment for you.

What Else Does The Gold Saucer Have?

The most reliable MGP rewards might come from GATEs and Fashion Reports, but there’s a lot more to do.

Eorzea’s favourite card game is called Triple Triad.

It was first shown in Final Fantasy VIII.

You can play against NPC players to build your deck and win MGP, or you can play against other players for fun.

Dungeons and trials can also drop cards.

So if you get hooked, you can keep adding to your collection outside of the Saucer.

You can also play Doman Mahjong or breed, train, and eventually race your Chocobos.

There are also a lot of quick-time event-based games in the Gold Saucer that can earn you much less MGP per time.

These are based on classic arcade games like Skee-ball, crane games, and strength tests.

All of these have cute names that fit with Final Fantasy, but the goal is pretty much the same for all of them.

These smaller games won’t make you a lot of money.

But they are fun and make the Gold Saucer a more interesting place to play games.

And if none of the other things interested you, you can also play the lottery.

Yes, really.

The Gold Saucer has daily and weekly Cactpots and both of them could give you a lot of gold.

The Mini Cactpot is like a scratch-off card that you can play three times a day for an increasing amount of MGP.

You could win up to 10,000 MGP, depending on how many numbers you reveal, so it’s worth a shot.

The big one is the Jumbo Cactpot.

It can give away huge amounts of MGP.

Like the Mini Cactpot, the Jumbo Cactpot lets you buy three tickets, but it runs once a week.

You’ll choose four numbers to play, and the grand prize will depend on how many Jumbo Cactpot tickets have been sold that week.

This might not be a reliable way to get MGP, but you should try it every week.

You never know what your luck might be in a big Golden Saucer, after all.
