Earning Runeshards

Players have to get Runeshards before getting to The Pit since Runeshards are required to start a run. All the events of World Tier 4 that are the World Bosses, Helltide chests, Nightmare Dungeons, Legion Events and some of the fights will reward players with runeshards. Three Runeshards is the money required for each Pit run, whether successful or not, it is impossible to get that money back.

The primary benefit of completing the quest called The Pit is the Masterwork materials that allow the players to enhance the equipment beyond the norm. Hence, it is masterworked to increase the rating of stats on all item affixes. Masterwork differs from the Tempering method by the fact that the latter can be applied to both Legendary and Unique items. Masterwork materials come in three varieties:Masterwork materials come in three varieties:

  • Obducite: The easiest material to acquire it enhances Masterwork items up to fourth rank.
  • Ingolith: Less common and you can upgrade items to Rank 8.
  • Neathiron: It in this material that one gets to have the top Masterwork, which is Rank 12.

Pit runs also reward players with high tier loot, including Masterwork, like Item Power 925 Legendary items. Every fall in The Pit will have maximum item level as foes start at the level 100. Also, the last monster of more complicated Pit runs can drop Stygian Stones which in turn can summon Uber versions of the end bosses of Diablo 4.
