Romance manga is more commonly known as Shoujo manga, but nowadays everyone loves to watch instead of read, but that thing is different from person to person; some love to read, some love to watch, and some love both, so it’s very normal.
Although every manga has a different story with different art, the romantic genre somehow shows the beautiful and cute things in most of the manga.
As the title suggests, I am preparing best Shoujo manga for you.
Updated June 4, 2024, by Shagun Singh: Shoujo manga has a long-standing history and is specifically created to appeal to girls and young women. As a genre, it is widely appreciated by people of all ages and backgrounds, as it explores a range of important themes such as love, personal development, and resilience. This genre can sometimes come across as a bit cliché, especially when it involves older shoujo stories with the typical romances between a cheerful female protagonist and a rebellious male protagonist.
Here Are Some Of The Best Shoujo Manga of All Time
21. Strobe Edge
Strobe Edge is the story of a youth romance where the characters fall for each other but in different and unexpected ways.
The characters are Ninako Kinoshita, Ren Ichinose, and Mayuka Korenaga where Ninako never fell for anyone but the encounter with the popular guy named Ren Ichinose changed her life.
But she already knew that their love story is impossible because ren is already dating Mayuka Korenaga.
It is a good feeling to be brave and honest about your feelings.
20. Glass No Kamen
I was surprised how superb the story of this manga would be and also the newest version updates the style of the characters, but it still follows the manga closely.
The manga was adapted from two stories of Two Girls with One Dream.’
Character names Maya and Ayumi both want to become successful in acting, pushing the limits of their talent and endurance to the utmost, until the end.
Who fails and who wins!!!
19. Skip Beat
Skip Beat is a mixture of lovers of comedy, dynamic characters, and stories with a realistic backdrop, and it is one of the best Shoujo manga!
Being a teen Kyouko Mogami travels to japan to support her childhood friend, crush, and rising pop icon, Shoutarou Fuwa.
But after knowing that her beloved Shou sees her as nothing but a free servant, shocked and heartbroken, she vows to take revenge on the rookie star by entering the world of entertainment herself.
18. Ao Haru Ride
This Shoujo manga is also a rom-com based manga where the female character was in love with the main male character from her junior high.
Yoshioka Futaba, who liked Tanaka-Kun for a very long time but never confessed her feelings.
Because of her cuteness, she was being left out of school, and she wanted to reset that thing in high school so that no one would get jealous of hand after meeting him again, her lwouldwill start again, which never starts in real.
Will the love continue after three years same as before?
17. ReLIFE
The story is about a 27-year-old Arata Kaizaki character his life is bounding back from one job to another after quitting his first company.
His life takes a twist when he meets Ryou Yoake, a member of the ReLife Research Institute, who offers Arata the opportunity to change his life.
After knowing about his life that he is now the subject of a unique experiment and must attend high school as a transfer student for one year.
As the name suggests of this manga Arata struggle to give him new life by not repeating their past life mistake.
16. Natsume Yuujinchou
Natsume is an unconventional and supernatural slice-of-life series that follows Natsume as he, with his infamous protector Madara, endeavors to free the spirits bound by his grandmother’s contract.
Natsume soon discovered that after her grandmother’s death, her power transferred to him, which is why these dangerous things are haunting him in hopes of somehow attaining their freedom.
15. Bokura ga Ita
The story about Nana Takahashi who believes that school romance is nothing serious but just waste of time and not special like her life, but everything changes when she ends up being classmates with the popular guy of the school named Yano Motoharu.
She doesn’t like him first but after being close to each other the spark amazes the show’s feel.
Now I can clearly state that love and life both are complicated.
14. Ouran Koukou Host Club
In this story every character is based on some stereotype where Haruhi Fujioka is a bright scholarship candidate at Ouran Academy, the school is full of elite students.
The story with a pretty random plot amazed the reader but this worth your time while there are lots of laughs and pretty boys waiting for you at the Host Club.
The club was led by the princely Tamaki Suou with the mischievous Hitachiin twins, Kaoru and Hikaru and the childlike Mitsukuni Haninozuka, and his strong protector Takashi “Mori” Morinozuka is where handsome boys with their too much time to entertain the girls in the academy.
13. Lovely Complex
Being taller than the average girl and being short than the average boy’s height is a very interesting topic for me.
This story is also a rom-com genre but with a different base, the story has two characters who are different from the other like Risa Koizumi who is 172 cm tall while the 156cm-tall Atsushi Otani is shorter than the average boy.
After that, both help each other with their crushes but fail and become closer to each other in the end, with the fact that Atsushi puts aside his height complex to start dating Risa,
12. Beauty Pop
Beauty Pop is a story with fantastic characters! The story from far was not that full of complications but still, it is very enjoyable for the reader with all the humorous characters.
As the title suggests the story is about beauty where the First-year high school student name Kiri Koshiba is very skill in her job.
Whenever others are bullied because of their appearance, she steps in to do some “magic,” giving them makeovers that bring out their natural beauty.
11. Dengeki Daisy
This manga is somewhere based on romance, but differently, when Teru’s brother died, he left a cell phone and email named Daisy and told him that she would look after him.
Over the next few years, Daisy would become Teru’s invisible pillar of strength. But she is tested after being forced to work for Tasuku, the school’s cruel janitor.
As Teru works to repay for breaking a window, she slowly learns that her connection with Daisy and Tasuku may be connected.
Although the story leads us to something expected and we have to wait for that blossoming relationship between the main characters.
10. AAA
Although the name of the title is quite amazing right and no wonder I get shocked when I got to know that this is the name of the school.
The best middle school…The character of the story is Ogata Aoi who is in her 2nd year of middle school and is the president of the student council.
Aoi goes there to meet her first love, but after meeting him, she finds out that her first love is a gang leader in the neighboring school, called “CCC” (lowest level).
Although love has no religion and no level so let see how their romance story will start and what are turn and twist it will take.
9. Nana
This story is quite interesting for me the manga is based on music but with romance in it…
The story about two girls with a similar name one falls in love easily and simple-minded and on the other hand, the other one is a punk rock singer determined to reach success with her band.
After meeting each other in train and end up becoming roommates later the series got its twist despite with completely different personalities and living completely different lives, the two shares more in common, and many adventures keep involving them in each other’s lives.
8. Tonari no Kaibutsu-Kun
The story is not only based on Romance but also it tells us about life that life is not simple and it offers us many different things like friendship, feelings, etc…
The story character whose name is Shizuku Mizutani doesn’t care about anyone or anything unnecessary all she cares about herself and her grades and one day she accepts the task to deliver notes at Haru Yoshida’s house.
After that their undestined or destined relationship begins!!!
7. The One
This manga has many factors in itself, like we have love; in this, we have fashion, failure, success, loss, and gains.
Some interesting factors and twists make this manga to be in this list so now let’s talk about the story of the character Cane Lele who was born into the fashion industry.
Her mother, Ye Feii, was Taiwan’s top model, and her father was also a model.
With pretty good character I love how relationships develop over time and everything gets their way.
6. Zettai Kareshi
The story about Riiko Izawa with lots of experience of being rejected and dumped in a relationship so she becomes desperate and turns to an online website for help.
And after that night the next day, a good-looking naked guy was standing outside her doorsteps! That’s not all. He wants to be her boyfriend!
Now what turns the story will take, if you are curious go and read it…
5. Akatsuki no Yona
Being born into a wealthy and loving family is great, so the character of the story, Princess Yona, lives a life of luxury and ease, but unfortunately, after the sudden murder of the king on her 16th birthday, everything in her life changes.
Apart from that, she was also forced to escape only with Son Hak, who is both her childhood friend and bodyguard.
The story of this manga is quite different from other hardcore romances so it is good if you keep your expectation low about this.
4. Kimi ni Todoke
Although this is one of the best romantic manga in the anime world, often you feel the real passion, romance, and that too in a realistic way.
Kuronuma Sawako is a shy girl in the manga and often misunderstood by others because of her personality and appearance in the manga.
Unexpectedly, a boy with an opposite personality with good looks contacts her, so he will able to take her out from that darkness and show some light in her life.
But the simple question arises in the journey that is there any hope for her when it comes to romance?
3. Akagami no Shirayuki-Hime
Shirayuki is a cheerful girl although her name means snow-white with trademark red hair she looks so pretty with her eye that catches everyone’s attention and also got the attention of a prince named Raji who wishes to marry her and in response, and in that attempt, she tries to run.
But later she meets a young man named Zen, who helps with injuries, and the story takes its turn toward the romance between them.
2. Horimiya
Every Romantic manga somewhere and somehow fluttered your heart right!!!!
The story is quite refreshing because the storyline of this manga is different and genuine in some parts. The story of a student named Hori and Miyamaru, who live double lives,.
Here Hori seems like an ordinary girl but after school has no social interaction with anyone and changes herself into a teenage girl who has to care for her brother while on the other hand, Miyamaru seemed to be a nerd at school but after his school, he is a social butterfly.
After discovering other double lives, their interaction led them to friendship and then towards love!!!!!
1. Kaichou wa Maid-Sama
This series is a somehow guilty pleasure for many out there because the story has many parts where your heart tingles a lot and no matter your face always get that smile and giggly thing.
The story is no doubt have the bucket full of romance where the character of the story Misaki Ayuzawa who is Demon student council president of her school.
It’s a fact that every single person has some secret in life that they don’t want to disclose to others, so her secret is that she is a maid at a certain café that she works at after school.
And that was discovered by the most popular guy in school name Usui Takumi so what you guys think that this is the end of her or something which is destined is about to begin!!!
shoujo is a demographic of manga. it’s not “commonly known as romance manga” romance is a genre. this list is already a mess with kaichou wa maid sama being the first.
thanks for your feedback we will improve this list and update it soon.
What a stupid list. Most of even what’s here isn’t even shoujo manga.
thanks for your feedback we will improve this list and update it soon
