26. Yowamushi Pedal

Yowamushi Pedal Anime Like My Hero Academia

You might not think that a sports anime focused on cycling has a lot in common with a superhero shonen, but upon close inspection, they’re pretty similar.

The protagonist, Onoda, is actually voiced by the same person who voices Midoriya in the original Japanese version. Their similarities go beyond just their voices; both are extremely earnest, kind of anxious young boys who get super nerdy about their interests.

Both of them have people who enthusiastically they look up to, as well. In Onoda’s case, it’s his upperclassman Makishima, and in Midoriya’s case it’s the superhero, All Might. Both boys start the series weak and unprepared to accomplish their goals, but improve dramatically over time.

Oh, and Naruko and Kirishima are basically the same person; they both have red spiky hair, sharp teeth, and a penchant for being manly and flashy. Also, Midousuji (sports anime‘s only villain) would totally fit in with the League of Villains.

25. Hamatora

Hamatora Anime Like My Hero Academia

Hamatora is anime like My Hero Academia for serval reasons like they both are colorful, exciting battle anime that get you invested in their respective worlds.

Both feature worlds where superpowers are common, and training schools help students learn how to use them appropriately. One major difference is that the protagonists of Hamatora have already graduated, while the MHA cast is still working on their education.

So if you’re an MHA fan wondering what comes next in the life of a superhero, check out Hamatora.

24. Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom

If you want a more optimistic approach to Assassination Classroom, then this is the one anime like My Hero Academia is for you.

In this anime students learning to master the art of assassination to kill their teacher and save the world, My Hero Academia is about a class of young superheroes learning how to protect the world from comic book style evildoers.

The teacher/apprentice relationship between Izuku “Deku” Midoriya and his idol superhero, All Might, is nothing short of charming.

23. Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail is loosely anime like My Hero Academia and related titles, complete with magic powers and martial artists.

Izuku can take on a variety of these characters with his powers and defeat them, but a few others would definitely get the best of him.

Both have their own concept altho personally I score FT better than Hero Academia the first season because several reasons.

No matter what you want to watch first, both anime are good and worth to watch depends on your taste of anime

22. The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins

From the continent’s worst criminals to the world’s saviors? Something is definitely out of whack! This anime like my hero academia features Meliodas, King, Diane, Ban, Merlin, Gowther, and Escanor—the Seven Deadly Sins are here to save the day!

The plot follows the adventures of Elizabeth, the third princess of the Liones Kingdom. To save her kingdom from the clutches of the Holy Knights, she sets on the journey to find the Seven Deadly Sins. The Seven Deadly Sins were a mighty group of knights who once protected the kingdoms in Britannia.

But they became a wanted group after they supposedly tried to overthrow the ruler of Liones Kingdom. However, the Holy Knights defeated them. Or is it all just a fabricated truth? After ten years, the Holy Knights themselves staged the coup d’état and became the new tyrannical rulers of the empire.

21. Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho

One day, 14-year-old Yusuke Urameshi suddenly finds himself dead, having died pushing a child out of the way of oncoming traffic.

Since he has such a bad personality, even the Spirit World was caught by surprise that he would sacrifice himself. Yusuke soon finds out he wasn’t supposed to die and has a chance for resurrection and bringing his body back to life.

After being resurrected, Yusuke becomes a Spirit Detective, along with his comrades, and one adventure after another happens, whether it be an investigation or a fighting tournament.

20. Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer

Kimetsu no Yaiba is an anime like my hero academia if you are a dark fantasy adventure fan then you defiantly gonna like it.

The characters and storytelling are meaningful to its premise while maintain an aura of mystique. We really need more adaptations like Kimetsu no Yaiba.

The plot follows a family is attacked by demons and only two members survive – Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko, who is turning into a demon slowly. Tanjiro sets out to become a demon slayer to avenge his family and cure his sister.

19. Hunter x Hunter

Hunter x Hunter

HxH is about a young boy named Gon who embarks on a journey to find his father. After learning that his father left him at a young age to become a Hunter, Gon decides to follow in his footsteps not only to find him, but also to see what was so special about the profession that made his father choose it over him.

Although a story of finding one’s father is simple, it is the path that is taken towards this end that makes the series truly special. HxH is a anime like my hero academia and made up of several arcs that are all extremely well-written, which brings me to the best part of the series, the writing.

Hunter x Hunter (2011) boasts one of the finest writing in the world of shonen; the depth and flow of the story, enthralling characterizations, strong dialogue and impressive world-building are all crafted into a fascinating tale that can absorb viewers into lengthy marathons.

18. Blue Exorcist

Blue Exorcist

Blue Exorcist is another excellent anime like My Hero Academia. The story focuses on Rin Okumura, who has demon powers. The anime has a lot of good fights, and the story is pretty good.

The plots follows Rin and brother Yukio are the sons of Satan and a human mother. Rin inherited the demonic powers, while Yukio didn’t. They are taken in by the current Paladin, Shiro, who raises them as sons.

Soon, they are thrust in an ongoing battle of the Exorcists versus Demons.

17. Katekyo Hitman Reborn

Katekyo Hitman Reborn

If you start watching this anime like my hero academia in the beginning of the anime seems misleading.

Katekyo Hitman Reborn was made with comedy in mind as the central theme. Therefore the first 20 episodes seem slow, parodic, and misleading from the main plot However, the anime takes a severe turn right after that.

Tsunayoshi Sawada is a typical middle-schooler, who has a crush on the school idol, Kyouko Sasagawa. One day, his life changes entirely upon meeting Reborn. Reborn are mysterious hitman in forms of babies.

Tsuna finds out that an Italian mafia sent the Reborn. And he is tasked with educating Tsuna to become the next boss of the Vongola family. And so “Loser Tsuna’s” road to greatness starts.

16. One Piece

One Piece

I know some people would say how is One Piece an anime like My Hero Academia? And to some degree, I would have to agree with them.

One Piece is actually one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, anime or otherwise. The plot is pretty basic at first. Monkey D. Luffy has just set out on his own to find the legendary treasure ‘one piece’ and become Pirate King, and he’s looking for a crew to sail with him.

You’ll find yourself falling in love with each and every new member as Luffy finds them. They’re all extremely well developed, with interesting backgrounds and unique, fun personalities.

15. Soul Eater

 Soul Eater

I wouldn’t describe the plot as being either typical or particularly inventive. I will say, however, that it does dangle a standard premise in front of you for a good few episodes and then almost entirely removes it for something much better – a pleasant surprise that, as I understand it, doesn’t quite happen in the manga.

While some elements of the plot remain unclear and somewhat incomplete by the end of the series, I ultimately felt that it didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment.

Bar the very last scenes, unfortunately, in which I was left starving for a bit more of a tie-up, or better yet, a follow-up montage in the ending credits. Still, I suppose that’s what the manga’s for.

14. World Trigger

World Trigger

World Trigger is a great anime. However, is it an anime like My Hero Academia? Well, it is in a way, even though the story is much longer than My Hero Academia.

Truly an amazing anime really balanced out as in everything is explained you can’t question anything about any scene or something i loved how they done that..

Sadly it is underrated alot of people dropped it at the start? the art is kinda okay but what’s more important are the fights and scenes very cool, there’s no overpowered character like most anime or the true main guy owns all no everyone is accounted for everyone in it has a job to do not totally focused on main character

13. Mairimashita! Iruma-kun

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun

The story of this anime like my hero academia follows a youngster, Iruma, who is sold by his parents to the demon Sullivan. This demon takes him to the underworld and starts raising him as his grandson.

The show follows the typical iseaki rules. A guy goes to another world and is powerful. Is it the case of Iruma? Yes, it is. This kid can stand face to face against the fiercest demons from his school.

And the only explanation given to us is, he suffered too much in the real world, or he received some sort of ring, that is childish but since it is a comedy we do not care too much about that.

12. Black Clover

Black Clover

The plot follows the story of Interesting world and magic mechanics. I am eager to see how it plays out given the backstory about the wizard king destroying the demons and how it resolves itself with the fact that Asta utilizes a demonic grimoire.

It follows the first adventures of Asta and the Black Bulls in the fictional Clover Kingdom.

After Asta receives a grimoire and joins the Black Bulls to become the new Wizard King, he explores a dungeon and meets Mars, a magic knight from the Diamond Kingdom.

11. Mob Psycho 100

Mob Psycho 100

Another great anime like My Hero Academia is Mob Psycho 100. The premise of this series is pretty simplistic. Mob is the main character and he’s a middle school boy who’s an outcast from most of society, including social circles.

What separates him from the norm is his psychic abilities. It’s quite a quirky show with a lot of comedy elements. Each episode consists of Mob going after spirits and performing an exorcism using his psychic abilities.

Along the way you meet different characters that add to the comedy aspect of this anime. With this said, story-wise. It’s more of a character driven show, but honestly, I like the simple story and how it goes deeper and deeper into the world building.

10. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

 Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Is this an anime like My Hero Academia? Well, in a way, it is similar, but in a way, it is not. Simon and Kamina were born and raised in a deep, underground village, hidden from the fabled surface.

Kamina is a free-spirited loose cannon bent on making a name for himself, while Simon is a timid young boy with no real aspirations.

One day while excavating the earth, Simon stumbles upon a mysterious object that turns out to be the ignition key to an ancient artifact of war, which the duo dubs Lagann.

Using their new weapon, Simon and Kamina fend off a surprise attack from the surface with the help of Yoko Littner, a hot-blooded redhead wielding a massive gun who wanders the world above.

9. Concrete Revolutio

Concrete Revolutio

Concrete Revoluto is a great anime like My Hero Academia.  The story revolves around Jirou, In an alternate 1960s history where extraterrestrial, supernatural and paranormal beings reside in Japan, a special bureau works to maintain peace and order.

Original anime is quite a rarity these days. Most of the shows that you encounter on a normal seasonal basis are adaptations of manga, LN, or VN, as things really only get an anime when it’s really popular. And then you have original anime.

Where there is no source material and only itself in order to tell the story it wants to tell. So, thanks to Bones, we have Concrete Revolutio.

8. Gatchaman Crowds

Gatchaman Crowds

An interesting anime like My Hero Academia is Gatchaman Crowds. This series takes place in the present day (2015, when the series aired), with the second part of Tokyo protected by warriors who fight in special suits powered by manifestation of their spiritual powers.

The first season deals with the energetic Hajime Ichinose joining them, and they have to deal with the androgynous alien, Berg Katze, aiming to destroy Earth.

As I noted in my podcast, in this show there is a horrible LGBTQ stereotype character named O.D., who acts flamboyant but to an absurd extent.

7. Charlotte

Charlotte

Charlotte is a great anime, and it is an anime like My Hero Academia. At the start of the anime Yuu has the power to plunder other abilities but he doesnt know that, and he has the power to control someone for a certain amount of time.

It all starts with a meteor which gives special powers to childs till their teen years strike, which then they forget about their powers and completely lose them.

And ofcourse Jun Maeda( famous for making clannad and angel beats ) writes this anime and forcing some melodrama in the middle of the anime.

6. One Punch Man

One Punch Man

One Punch Man is one of my favorite anime like My Hero Academia. It has superpowers, heroes, and excellent comedy.

And, let’s not forget the loveable main character Saitama. Although it’s quite similar, the main character is nowhere like Deku. Saitama is among the strongest character I have seen.

In a world of superhuman beings, Saitama is a unique hero, he can defeat enemies with a single punch. But being just one hero in a world filled with them, his life is empty and hollow: he gets no respect from anyone.

He displays a laidback attitude to everything and for the most part, he finds his overall hero life pointless… and worst of all, he lost his hair due to intense training. These are the adventures of an ordinary yet extraordinary hero.

5. Samurai Flamenco

Samurai Flamenco

Though Samurai Flamenco takes its inspiration from Japanese superheroes like Super Sentai, and My Hero Academia is based on Western superhero tropes, both shows feature a similar premise.

A male model decides to become a superhero, and a police officer finds out his real identity.

These two young men will come face to face with hardships of being crime-fighters while discovering what it truly means to be a hero of justice.

4. Fire Force

Fire Force

The world we know is no more. A mysterious phenomenon stripped the humanity of the right to have a quiet life, with hopes and dreams.

This plague is known as Spontaneous Human Combustion and turns people randomly into mindless creatures known as Infernals, which is the fate worse than death and causes one sufferings unimaginable.

However, there are people that can control this cursed power and become pyrokinetics, who can manipulate the power of flame.

3. Naruto

Naruto

Many years ago, in the hidden village of Konoha, lived a great demon fox. When it swung one of it’s nine tails, a tsunami occurred.

The fourth hokage sealed this demon fox inside a boy in exchange for his own life. Naruto was that boy, and he grew up with no family, and the villagers hated him thinking that he himself was the demon fox.

Naruto’s dream is to become Hokage, and have the villagers acknowledge him.

2. Little Witch Academia

Little Witch Academia

Akko Kagari is an ordinary girl who joins the renowned witch academy for witch girls, Luna Nova Academy.

When she was younger, she went to Magical Festa, a magic show hosted by a witch named Shiny Chariot.

Akko was so mesmerized and inspired by Shiny Chariot’s performance that she dreamed to someday be a “cool” witch like her.

1. Tiger and Bunny

Tiger and Bunny

Tiger & Bunny is more tightly-written, and has a more interesting premise and it is an anime like my hero academia. However BNHA doesn’t do much with a society where 90% of people have some kind of superpower.

T&B’s idea of corporate-sponsored superheroes is so fresh and fun that I was hooked from 10 minutes into the first episode. The heroes catch the bad guy… but Wild Tiger causes so much collateral damage that it wasn’t worth it and his sponsor chews his ass out.

The entire show is just utterly unique in a genre (superheroes) that has been well traveled for longer than anime has existed. The CGI is also surprisingly good.
